Honestly, I just chose things that sounded good, and some that look cool, like the Guard and Vanguard. So not entirely sure what I am doing, and as such input would be appreciated

I am Guessing from the amount of Jump infentry your doing a DOA , so i would probs drop the guard and get some more vanguard so two units of 5 and then give them some weapons, your choice, depending on the role you give them. and with left over points get some Priests with jump packs and power weapons. Three if you can.

Are my equipment ok?

I dont play blood angels but i am playing them and if you want to run Death company you need a full list of them. So i would drop the guard still and get more vanguard. Then get three Pirests with packs and Power weapons, there always ruinen my day, if you get what i mean. So your choices that would give you 5deep striking units. Just my input.

Alright, thanks for the input
I'll wait and see what some BA players say about it, but your opinions were helpful.

Death company can be your blessing and down fall (cause people hate them and will be prime targets.), but id drop the sang guard and put in a death company squad with jump packs and id drop the librarian for a chaplain and a sang priest which will allow you to re roll hits and wounds and the sang priest allows the chap to get feel no pain and furious charge

or if you decide you like your list you could add a furioso dread with blood talons for infantry or blood fists for mech and put it in a drop pod

So what did a squad of Fire Dragons say to the ork stompa?

no dont swap out the libby. he is essential in a DoA list mainly for his ability to give a 5+ cover save. it might not seem like much but at least its something when caught out in the open. the second power is generally up to you but id prefer blood lance as you can take out multiple tanks among other things.

the utility of a libby out weights the ability to re-roll hits in combat. but if necessary you can still use the second power for unleash rage which gives you prefered enemy which is alot better than what the reclusiarch can do.

you troops do need some tweaking. id suggest you drop the inferno pistols in favor of dual meltas on each ASM squad. the +5 points over a melta gun for half the range and an extra attack really isnt worth it. if you keep the inferno pistols your risking a mishap if you deep strike in, if your not deep striking in then thats a different story but the increased range for a melta gun is hard to beat when you really need to blow up that tank.

would also suggest you try to figure out how to get a storm shield on your vanguard unit

Only 1 SS? Or on all of them?
Also, I if I do what you said, then I have 70 points left over.

try to get 2 shields if you can just so they can survive a bit longer and tie things up if necessary

What can I lose for 10 points? I have enough for 3 SS, but not 4 (2 per squad).

Unless you mean 1 per squad.
Should I switch out a PF for PW? Would then have enough points for a 4th SS.

This is ok, although the Librarian costs 125. Meltabombs are always a good use for 5-10 leftover points.

I personally think there's too much wargear in the VV squads, but you'd have to cut them down to a PF and a PW each to save enough to take another unit. I like the idea of running them light, but I don't have any personal experience.

Yeah, sorry, forgot to make it 125. The total points is correct though.

As for the Vanguard Vet squads, it may be a holdover from DE. That is, putting a lot of upgrades on them.

I suppose if I get the chance I could run this list and see how it does.

I like vanguard being expensive. For me they need to be able to defeat let's say assault termies or other cc units which will take a long time to shoot down. Actually that was a bad example as you can out run them and they'll be hiding a raider but the point still holds.

Not tying to say your list is bad, i play with quite a similar one, but wouldn't it get walked over by a krone deamons army, power weapon heavy, or shot attack gun army. I consitently got my assualt squads and saguinary guard walked over by blood letters, they get no save and just get destroyed if i get charged. Then against my ork playing brother, a shot attack gun obliterates them when they deepstrike! Also some players have some amazing units and i cant see which unit would destory them. For example, my borther has ghazzy, and ten nobs in a unit, he has 3 power klaws, feel no pain and all have 5+ invunerables, no unit in your list could deal with that. Maybe a unit of assualt terminators with storm sheilds would help, there very resiliant and can deal with tough units.

This is just my view, so please feel free to argue your case! at the end of the day, every list has some weakness and your list, would be good against many other amies like a tau gun line!

Blood angels are so awesome they make me cry!

So, 5 Vanguards with Power Weapons have 20 attacks on the charge and cost 225. It takes 12 WS4 S4 PW attacks to kill an Assault Terminator on average. A little more than half the time, you kill 2 or more, the rest, 1 or zero. Even if you kill 2, you get 6 TH attacks back, which is going to kill 2.5 VVs on average.

True, you can throw a few Storm Shields in the VV squad, but now the cost is up to 245+, and you still have a good chance of losing 2+ Marines.

The bottom line is that Vanguard squads aren't meant for taking on dedicated CC units. They either don't have the staying power or cost too much if you give them Storm Shields. Vanguards are meant for crushing/tying up things that shoot. For that role, you don't need 5 Power Weapons in the unit, as you'd prefer to stay in combat for a round.
