I've got a friend who really liked the Lasombra in the old world of darkness. I've picked up the new ones (he has yet to), and he asks me if they are in the new one. I'm not seeing them anywhere, not even in some of the expansion books.
So did they get axed or what?

They exist as a bloodline if I recall, Lemme look around
Ah, yeah, that's where I remember seeing them.

Just to be clear, that document is to convert oWoD setting to nWoD rules and vice versa. Lasombra are not in Vampire: the Requiem.

Yeah, I was thinking about it then decided to revisit this thread. Man that blows, they were pretty cool in their own twisted way. Maybe later on in an expansion book or something.

'syer game man, you want to run the oWoD clans with nWoD rules, do it. If you just want to Lasombra in they could work as a bloodline or even as a new covenant with Obtenibration as a covenant discipline. The book i linked has rules for the oWoD disciplines converted into nWoD style. If it makes yer gamers happy and you don't mind, sky is the limit.

The Mehket have many aspects of the lasombra. (they distilled/dumbed down the 13 clans to the 5 or so and then added a metric tonne of 'bloodlines')

I think there's a Lasombra like bloodline in Bloodlines: the Legendary or else The Hidden.
Also, pick up the Mekhet clanbook. There's nothing in there about manipulating shadows. There is stuff in there about having no shadow, foorprints, echo and a mirror image running wild... not the same I know, but it's cool nonetheless.

I guess the main thing is that Lasombra themselves don't exist in Requiem. If you just wanted something with similar powers to a Lasombra ... well, failing the conversion doc/Masquerade 20th Anniversary Ed., just make it up. But if you want to play in a world with a continuing metaplot where the Lasombra exist, that's done with (for now).

the main reason was that the 5 clans should complement each other and give an all rounded party but when you had 13 clans it was alot harder; but basically in nWoD the old clans etc. are bloodlines/covenants and the Sabbat are replaced by Belial's Brood

Just wanted to say thanks for clearing this up guys, I've been wondering about it for a while, just never got around to asking.
