Subject: Necron Apocalypse List - Need Help!
|
 |
One Canoptek Scarab in a Swarm
|
So I have an Apoc game coming up next weekend and I am looking at putting about 7-8k worth of Necrons on the table. I don't have a lot of experience with Apoc games.
Obviously some of the units are no brainers with how to organize them. I have some ideas on how I want to organize the core of my army, but I wanted to list what I have here and see if anyone can come up with any kinds of creative ideas on how to organize my list to really best maximium results. It's worth noting that the enemy has probably 4-6 super-heavies including at least 2 Titans. I have a Pylon, and our side has a number of super-heavies as well, including 3 Stompas.
My allies in the game are Orks, 'Nids, and a Chaos Daemon played.
Our side is the attacking party and we score points for siezing designated objectives behind "enemy lines". I also have been given the "Subvert Machine" strategem.
Currently the models that I have which I need to organize are:
80 x Necron Warriors
20 x Necron Immortals
10 x Lychguard w/ Shields
10 x Crypteks
2 x Named HQs (undesignated but have models)
7 x Overlords
1 x Destroyer Lord
3 x Necron Lords
The rest of my army:
1 x Necron Pylon
3 x Necron Monoliths
5 x Annhiliation Barge/Command Barge kits (I am open to having these be either kit as I haven't finished the models)
1 x Ghost Ark Kit (Again open to this being a ghost ark OR a Doomsday Ark)
2 x Tomb Spyders
4 x Necron Wraiths
25 x Necron Scarabs
10 x Necron Destroyers
3 x Necron Hdestroyers
10 x Flayed Ones'
Any help or feedback will help me tailor this list better to make a good showing at the game! Thank you!

Ok do Phaeron Units of 20 Warriors. If you can, put a few crypteks in a single unit. With about 5 courts, it should be easy. You can do it with both immortals squads. Then fit the lords into the lychguard unit. Maybe sacrifice on of the crypteks in the immortal unit to give them a teleporter. Put the destroyer lord with the Wraiths obviously. However, your Wraith unit will draw a lot of fire so use it to draw fire instead of actually using it to fight. Monoliths and whichever ones you choose to assemble as Annihilation Barges advance together. Put all destroyers together in one big mass and use them to whip out MEQs in Metal Boxes. The flayed ones should outflank (you will inevitably have the stratagem). The Ark Can be used to follow the warriors or be fire support, depending on how you assemble them. The scarabs and spyders are scarabs and spyders (you can outflank then if you want), OR you can change the game by bringing the Stormlord. That will piss off everyone in your group though. With you team members you should focus on short range fire support to support their swarms. So the Stormlord might be the best thing you could do.

Ya, I play Crons, what about it?
Also, they are just shiny space zombies with guns.

Great suggestions. I was wondering to just 20 the warriors squad with Phaeron, with Overlord and a ton of Cryptek support. This seems like a solid play. I have the Pylon formation that adds +1 to Resurrection Protocol, so with a Rez Orb I am 3+ on all those warriors. 40 shots at 24" will be fairly amazing in terms of damage, especially with 80 of them going -- and good survivability. Most of my debate is: Keep them in squads of 10 with lower Cryptek support as fodder, or give my opponent clear targets in bricks of 20.
Also, for Stormlord. We talked about it and the guy who is running the game made the call that the Nightfighting affects everyone but the Necrons. So yeah, this could hurt my friends and yes, certainly will piss off everyone in the game. It's a friendly game so I don't think I want to do that to them. I am thinking of taking Nemesor Zand, and Anrakyr on one of the Barges. Also, that means I can take Vargard Obyron and stick him with the Lychguard squad for even more punch and that reliable teleport.
Anrakyr also gives me the chance to take control of a Titan with his roll, as well as to use my Subert Machine (both on the same turn). I am figuring firing one or two Titans either at each other or at an opponent's army twice, should cause some huge damge.
I am working on a finalized list and I'll post it to this thread when I am done.
I am debating on the viability of using catacomb command barges in this format. I think 5 Annihiliation Barges should be able to cause some serious damage with how packed in units are going to be. A command barge has to get up in and I think will take a ton of fire.
Ah! Decisions....

Just curious, who are your opponents?
Also, you might want to go with the Monolith Phalanx, and skip the Undying Legion.
See if you can take a planning session with your team, just like 30 min before your game.
Apocalypse games are really stressful if your team cannot agree on what they are doing.
Green Tide/Endless Swarm protected by a phalanx is fun. As are the titan strategies you mentioned.

We are going to strat a bit this week to work out what we are doing. Yeah, I have 3 monos and my Necron team-mate has 2. So we'll have 5 total. So we can surely make that happen to shield them.
My opponents are pretty much a mix of Marines, IG, and Eldar. Blood Angels, Space Wolves, IG, ..I think some Salamanders, Eldar, and Grey Knights. They are a mish-mash of Imperium. It's kind of like Imperium vs Xenos (save Eldar are on their side).

Anrakyr is a no-brainer here. The instant super-heavy tanks hit the field, Anrakyr becomes your best friend.
Honestly, Imotekh in an Apoc battle could turn it into a week-long venture. By the third day, your own teammates may be looking for a dark place in which to dispose of your body.

By the third day, your own teammates may be looking for a dark place in which to dispose of your body.
But remember, his team is orks and Nids and Daemons (he says seriously to the joke).
Pick the Ork Roc stratagem, and make sure you roll the misses out out of the scatter die beforehand.
(directions:
get as many scatter die as you can, roll them all.
pick out the ones that get hits.
roll again and repeat step 2.
roll again and repeat step 2.
roll again and repeat step 2.)
Guarantied to work.
If you are on a huge board it won't matter anyway.
DON'T pick Jammers. Just don't.
Pick the disruption beacon, they are so useful.
Remember you can actually destroy the battlefield assets through shooting (especially with warriors).
Flank March!!!!!!!
Take a vortex grenade. You know you want to.
And take the Shokk Attack Gun Formation if possible.
And definitely pick subvert machine.
