I've recently completed my first attempt at a cryptek for my Necron army, and coincidentally my first attempt at GS on a model as anything other than a crack filler.

I know he isnt perfect but I attempted to add what will become a metallic ponytail (a combination of vanity and sing of status on his undead body), broken chains around his wrist (a hold over from being regarded as a traitor) and to remove the eye sockets to make the orb on the forehead into his only eye (I dont possess death mark heads, I know it isnt ideal)

This is my first real conversion and attempt at GS so I'd really appreciate feedback

enjoy.

Looking pretty good so far bro.

Thanks guys. I'm having issues getting my chains to come out right. either theyre too fat and don't look right. Or so delicate they snap. Any idea how to find a happy medium?

An option is to go to a hobby / craft store and pick up some hobby chain, I have it them used on many different 40k conversions to great effect. I will be honest your chains look more like rope/hair and will require a bit of practice to make. I will leave the sculpting advice to an expert, as I have yet to make the attempt on doing chains.

The Cryptek looks great though!

Just a quick update to see if painting the model has established a better idea of how he's turning out.

I know its not quite complete, (quite being kind given that the entire torso and both arms need finishing) but I'm happy with how he's going now and thrilled with how the first base I've actually put work into has turned out.

Both model and and base look fantastic, there is no denying that he looks like a cryptek. Keep up the great work!

Cheers xtickx, I'm happy with how he's developing.

One issue I have is the scale between this cryptek and a warrior, having not handled the finecast cryptek I have no real idea of how big it is. This guy stands a good 1/4 again above a warrior, is this a big deal or am I just over thinking things?

And to add another work in progress to the thread below is my Necron Lord that is currently being worked on aswell, I've added a necron goatee, claw based hand from a missing limb and chain sashed resurrection orb. The base displays his mindshackle scarabs.
