I would read the 5th edition book and make a few notes before you play. If you do, it is not THAT different overall in terms of structure. Here are the big points...
Transport vehicles have been changed a lot. In general, all vehicles are more durable with the new damage table. (vehicles in cover now also get 4+ cover saves)
Cover saves are more prevalent making hordes more survivable.
Wound allocation is different, no partial hits and you can remove models from any part of a unit.
You cannot consolidate from one combat into a new one.
I think I hit the major points (ohh, units can enter via the short board edge with outflanking) with this. I think it is a much better game now than it was in 4th.

The other BIG change is that EVERY infantry alike unit can Run in lieu of shooting, you no longer need Fleet of .... to move in the shooting phase. The downside is you cannot then assault UNLESS you are Fleet. This is quite a big change as it makes combat armies a lot faster
Consolidate is always D6, it doesnt matter how you killed the opposing unit
AS noted, there is no mixed armour rules, no torrrent of fire any longer - you are forced to take more risks that your special guy (powerfist sarge, melta gun, etc) dies from shooting, far more than in 4th edition.

So now terrain does not block LOS anymore? Instead it gives a cover save?
And wounds and not be given after saves (IE 2 battle suits failed two save and I can give one each).

5th ed uses True LOS, Look from your models "eyes" and what you can see then the model can "see". Wounds are allocated to models, then similar models (same gear, stats, etc) are grouped together and saves are rolled. You must remove whole models in a wound group before another model can take a wound.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Thevirus - no, not quite. Instead of Area Terrain blocking LOS through it as in 4th, it now gives a cover save. If it ACTUALLY blocks los entirely, then it blocks los entirely.
4th ed used TLOS as well, but area terrain massively knackered this for many people.
