This is my unit of Iron Warriors for a league at my FLGS. I went for a more Pre-Heresy scheme so no caution tape and shaved all of the spiky bits off of the armor and what not.

Thanks, I'm glad you like them! When I got the model it was missing it's arms, I had the body and servo harness for two warsmiths, but no arms. :/

Really cool, if you don't mind me asking, how did you get that metal to look so good. I'm planning on doing an astral claws army and need a good way to paint metallics.

They're very nicely painted, but they have no caution stripes, and that I can not abide. Iron Warriors need that black and yellow flare! Give em some razzle dazzle and drill their barrels out, and they'll look great. Right now they look very good, but caution stripes are what really identify a warband as "Iron Warriors" in my mind.

I started by priming them black, then laid down a good base of boltgun, then went over that with a light chainmail, finally I ended with a very light mithril especially on the hard edges of areas.

I agree with you wholeheartedly, but I was going for a more pre-heresy feel to them so I'm keeping the caution stripes to a minimum. Although, I will probably go back and do a few caution stripes here and there on chainswords and flamers/meltas but not so much on the actual armor. I also agree with you about the barrels being drilled out, I intend on going back and doing the barrels. I got in a rush and ran out of time to do everything I wanted to do. I know it's a backwards thing to drill out the barrels after they're painted but it won't be a problem to fix.

Thanks for the input guys, I appreciate it.
