What was the best moment when you had a plan of attack or a tactic or a trap. That went perfectly.

My friend had a Bloodclaw Pack hiding in cover from my LRMBT. I moved my LRMBT behind a hill and turned it, giving the illusion I had given up. The next turn, he ran them out in to the open to grab an objective. My turn, slid my LRMBT back to its original position, fired my battle cannon and wiped the squad.

The look on his face when I slid it back was priceless

Outflanking

Played defensively with Dark Eldar for 4 round of a 6-round game.

My opponent was playing space wolves. Two longfang squads, bunch of grey hunters, priest, thunderwolves, wolfguard in land raider.

Basically, I kew that I could not get close without the 'fangs popping my transports and the thunderwolves charging and messing up my day.

It was spearhead, and I was going second. I hid in the corner, about 6" from the board edge with almost everything. Let his assault units come to me, then jumped them when they got close, and tore up the rest in a firefight. Wyche squad walked up the board and assaulted the lonfangs, my last ravager contested on objective, two wyche squads wiped the Grey hunters off a second, and I walked some warriors onto the third.

The plan went off near flawlessly.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but shouldn't this be in the 40k tactics part of the forum?

The enemy of my enemy is a bastard so lets kill him too.

Every one of my carefully laid plans has either backfired in my face or failed to do anything of importance.

One of my all-time favourites is tricking my Daemon opponent to assault my Venerable Dreadnought with his Bloodletters, thus keeping them away from my soft, vulnerable Grey Hunters. Tarpitted him for 4 turns as he sent in Obliterators and other units to come rescue him. Although, when it got wrecked at the end of Turn 6 that really hurt things...

I'd say no, as this is discussion, rather than construction as it were...

I.e. People are just listing stories rather than providing constructive advice.

"As I recall, your face was tortured. Imagine that - the Master of the Wolves, his ferocity twisted into grief. And yet you still carried out your duty. You always did what was asked of you. So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."

a game the other night. the deployment was in table quarters. I was playing IG and he was playing raven guard at 2500 points. I deployed first, and set my entire army up with no place for him to land his drop pod ironclads anywhere in the table quarter. the forty man blob squad with commissar realy bogged down his scouts, assault marines for three turns, even took out 8 scouts and shriek.

not so much as a trap, but, i realy didnt let him have any shots at my tanks or chimeras.
