Is it white carpet? It's white carpet isn't it? What else could it be?
DO NOT try rubbing it whatever you do try and keep the stain as localised as possible.
Also what kind of situation are we talking about? drybrushing flecks or an overturned paint pot?
preen carpet foam lifting spray might work but also may spread the problem slightly.
If all else fails pray that the parents (edit: or the wife!) don't notice until you are in the next state over.

Yeah, it's white. Not pure white, kinda beige, but for all intents and purposes white.
And it's as bad as it could possibly be. I was closing a pot of Citadel Red Gore with 1 finger, and the off-centered point of pressure actually launched the open pot across the floor, getting paint everywhere. I've cleaned the paint off of the surrounding furniture (fortunately nothing has any fabric aside from the carpet), and as far as that stain goes right now I've covered it with an empty model box. To anyone coming in, they'll just see a stray box on the carpet, so I have some time to work with here...

Sounds pretty bad, but fear not. On most materials, GW paints tend to dry up in a crust or skin, not a stain. There are some carpet cleaners that you can buy, it's a spray can with a rubber brush on the top, and it secretes conditioner, it works like a dream. See if you can find it at your local supermarket.

Once you mentioned Red Gore, I cringed.

Try vinegar. Slightly acidic, clear liquid might do the trick after a few scrubbings.
The vinegar won't have any effect on the material of the carpet/rug. (If anything, that will be the cleanest spot on the floor)
Maybe combine this with some Dawn dish detergent and a toothbrush, followed by a good run-over with a Rug-Doctor carpet shampoo machine.
Lather, rinse, repeat until results are satisfactory.
Best of luck

While i realise that the horse has bolted invest in some more sustantial floor coverings as well a plastic chair mat is very handy
if you have carpet around your desk.
this will of course not help if you have another paint pot projectile moment but it is something to consider.
