Sorry if this has been asked recently, but I was reading Imperial Armour 2 the other day, which suggests (p. 9-10) that each battle company within a Space Marine Chapter has its own Rhinos, Land Speeders, Dreadnoughts, and Bikes, with heavier armor drawn as needed from a Chapter-wide armor pool. How many vehicles do you think each company would maintain for its own use? I would think they'd need at least one Rhino for each squad, with perhaps two in reserve, but what about the speeders, bikes, and dreadnoughts? Thanks.

Codex: Space Marines 3E had a Table of Organization and Equipment for the Ultramarines that listed 129 Rhinos. The individual companies had anywhere from 7 to 15 Rhinos per battle company, but that also was supposed to be factoring in at the moment battle losses that hadn't been replaced or repaired yet. 5-15 Land Speeders, 13-30 bikes and 1-4 dreadnoughts (same caveat of losses). If you want to represent a full strength battle company, I'd go with the top end of those numbers.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

But it will be very rare for a company to be at full strength, marines barely take a break.

Yeah, but they refill their numbers from the Reserve companies. The Battle Companies will typically be close to full strength unless immediately returning from a deployment. Otherwise it's the Reserve and Scout companies that are going to bear the brunt of the casualties due to getting fished for replacements.

I think it would be safe to say that a Battle Company heading into an engagement fresh would have at least enough Rhinos to transport all the ground squads. Obviously Assault Marines really wouldn't need a Rhino for transport. Beyond that it would be probably up to a dozen Dreadnaughts and Predators and maybe a little more of bikes and Land Speeders. Really it would be whatever fits into your force's fluff within reason.

Assault Marines have a Rhino assigned anyway...

There is 2nd coy Ultras in current codex over two pages 124-5

8 rhinos for 6 tac squads and 2 dev squads and a razor for the capt and his cmd squad.

There are other vehicles, TFC etc, however I dont think they are part of the coy but rather are attached like 1st coy veterans are.
