Subject: Grenades +wargear, how are they allocated to models? [Newbie Question]

Hey, I'm really new to 40k, as you can probably tell by this question.
I saw on the army lists for some models under the wargear section it states:
"Power Armour
Bolt Pistol
Frag Grenades
Krak Grenades
Close Combat Weapon
Bolter"
So... Does this mean I can choose from this selection of wargear with no additional points cost? Common sense tells me I can't have a bolter and a bolt pistol and a close combat weapon, but what combination can I have? Would it be Bolter due to it being 2 handed OR a Bolt Pistol with Close Combat weapon. Are there different points cost for these selections? And do grenades come with points cost? Can you only take one type on each model, or does this list mean the squad has both Frag and Krak?
Again I apologise if this question is really basic, I just can't seem to find the answer on google. If you want to point me to the page in the rulebook rather than answer, that's fine too.
Thanks a lot guys.

You have all of it. You've got a rifle, pistol, machete, and grenades. I don't see a problem with that.

The gear allows for various effects for the model. The character doesn't literally throw grenades or anything. One type allows you to assault(melee combat) into cover and not affect your iniative. Best thing you can do is just read the various wargear and such to see what each does.

The list you see is what everyone in that unit has unless there is another list for a specific model. The options come from the list(s) that have a point cost listed with them. The cost is on a per model basis and sometimes there is a limit as to how many options a model and/or unit can take.

I am not sure why it is stated like that in the codex. It should say perhaps bolt pistol/close combat weapon in an assault squad. It also could mean that the sergeant has a close combat weapon/bolt pistol and the rest of the squad has bolter/bolt pistol. Another possibility is the wargear is from an independent char that can have a close combat weapon and bolter. However regardless of that the wargear itself is included in the points as a base for each model in the squad unless otherwise stated. Therefore every model in the squad has the wargear as a base. May I ask what unit you are referring to so I can better understand and help your question?

Just a standard Chaos Space Marine unit.
If I'm understanding this right. One turn I can choose to fire my bolter at an enemy, and the next turn I can declare that I'm using my boltgun and CC weapon to gain the benefits of those.

Actually you don't declare anything. If you are in CC you always use the BP/ CCW combo, you don't have choice.....you must use it. It doesn't matter what weapon you used in the shooting phase. Granted if you fire the bolters you can't assault (unless you have the Relentless USR).

As above.
"Common sense" apparently never included holsters or maglocks
There are no general rules on how many weapons a model can have, just how many they can use at any one time.
