So I am trying to do some lateral thinking with my Skaven list and come with something unexpected. A hard hitting, low model count elites/heros list for Skaven. This is intentionally the opposite of the 250+ bodies at 2500 points lists I usually see. Let me know if you have seen any success with this or if It will just be something fun to run for the oddball factor.

Lords
Queek Headtaker [215]

Warlord [213]
Dawnstone, Dragonhelm, Portents of Verminous Doom, Shield, War-litter, Sword of Anti-Heros

Heros
Plague Priest [334]
Flail, Plague Furnace, Talisman of Preservation, Lvl-2 caster

Warlock Engineer [150]
Talisman of Endurance, Warp-Energy Condenser, Lvl- 2 caster

Chieftan [122]
BSB, Shield, Armor of Destiny

Core
Queek Stormvermin Bodyguard * 31 [376]
Full Command, Banner of Eternal Flame, {Queek goes here}

Stormvermin * 30 [235]
Full Command, {Warlord and BSB goes here}

Skavenslaves *35 [72]
musician {go between the Doomwheels}

Special
Plague Monks *35 [315]
Full Comand, Razor Standard {Plague Priest on Furnace goes here}

Gutter Runners * 7 [126]
Slings, Poisoned Attacks, Deathrunner with Weeping Blade

Rare

2nd the stormbanner.

besides that, it looks like it could do pretty good.

It would certaintly be unexpected.

Please give your plague priest the ironcurse icon

Last summer I ran a list with 2x 40 stormvermin hordes for a while, with one of them juiced up with skavenbrew and the other usually receiving Bless With Filth from my Plague Seer. The rest of the army was the usual support - slave diverters, gutters, some censers, WLC, etc. Definitely surprised people and did pretty well, though I found that even stormvermin can't really fight with poop.

Now Queek's stormies, that might just get around the sadness that is WS4 S4 Gets massively expensive fast, though I'd want more than 31 myself. Partially because at this point my game revolves around getting Death Frenzy off onto my dudes and hoping to Skavenblight that volume of attaks beats out their inferiority (note: not really ). Your list, it doesn't look like you're really guaranteed really any spells besides Pestilent Breath and Warp Lightning - not sure if that matters to you, but I think we desperately need either of our two augments - particularly DF - to make fights work out in our favor. (Wither is hot sex too, but such short range, and I've converted to Ruin at this point so meh.)

If you want more points for stormies, your characters have some seriously expensive gear going on, especially all those heavy ward saves

Oh, and you really shouldn't bother with a death runner, especially with any kind of weapon upgrade. Gutters are not made for fighting, despite what their stats might suggest. So there's a massive 42 points you can put right into more useful things.

In the off chance you're interested, I've been running an extremely elite skaven army for a while now, with surprisingly good results. The current iteration looks roughly like this: ruin seer on bell, weeping blade assassin, blade of corruption assassin, ruby ring BSB, 45 +1M stormies, 2x 30 stormies, 2x 20 slaves, 2x 6 censers, 2x 5 gutters, 2x doomwheels. When I'm not allowed to take double dooms (most tournaments ban double skaven rares of any kind), I've been trying out 2x mortars instead of the second one, and liking having a little shooting. Not a big believer in the mortars yet, but the doomwheels have actually done quite poorly for me, and one is easier to babysit I guess

A grey seer would do well for the army if you can find the points. I'd drop the warlord, and some of the warlock's/plague priest's magic items.
If you drop the gutter runner champ, and the 2 extra gutters you could boost queek's storm vermin up a bit too.

Wow, really? Does Empire get his with this? DE Hydras? I've never been to a tournament, but that sounds pretty lame...

Thanks for the input. Stormbanner now in, I missed that on my proofread, Ironcurse Icon in, Stormvermin boosted. I don't have my second Doomwheel kit yet (it is under the tree) so for now that is where the points are coming from. I did drop the Deathrunner; although on paper it does look tempting to have a weeping blade in there, an extra body makes an extra chance for a 6 to hit and an extra sling attack. For now I am going to try running overgeared on my heros, it may be a hold over from my 7th edition days but I am going to have to ween off of it slowly.

I believe it's a fairly common restriction on Skaven, especially in the NE USA. And for the record I think it's short sighted - double doomwheels are not broken, and double PCC are a concession IMO. It's really to stop 2x 90 pt WLC and 2x 235 pt HPA, and perhaps taking an HPA + 2x DW (though I've actually never seen that below 3000).

Empire are very rarely restricted in specific, they mostly get caught by the 'no more than 4-5 template weapons or war machines', with the stank almost always counted as a machine for this purpose, and sometimes the waltar as well. Stanks I think tend to be 0-1 too.

Hydras bizarrely are NOT often limited to 0-1, and this blows my fakking mind to no end. DE players complain that they aren't that bad any more, while T3 infantry players (ok, lots of others too ) complain that they got worse ... Thankfully you tend to only see 1 in an army any more, because of so many hard counters and flaming units.

If you want to check out a pretty standard take on restrictions up here you might take a peek at the Crossroads GT restrictions from back in late September. Note that we were able to argue the TO into allowing double wheels and catapults

I mostly meant the 5+ ward on the engineer, that just seems a bit excessive for a dude that should never ever see combat. Though it does look like he's going to have to be free-balling it? Don't see a bunker for him to wander around in.

List looks solid, yea for more troops. Where did the stormbanner end up?

Oops, edited to add banner to the second Stormvermin, although I am now not sure if that is legal or if I need to change my Banner of Eternal Flame to a storm banner due to # of Stormvermin that can have magic banners. Time to reread 8th edition comp. I was planning on deploying my Engineer different depending on spells that he rolls. He can go in any of the units except monks to start, depending on his second ruin spell.

Added: I did have to drop Eternal flame for Storm Banner. I was not sold on the Eternal
flame banner. If it is a must have I can swap the BSB magic armor for the Storm Banner and leave the Eternal Flame on the Stormvermin, I can slip the BSB in the second row of the 5 wide Stormvermin will Warlitter and full command.

If you drop the engineer's ward, you've got the points for two smaller slave blocks, one of which can be his bunker (until it needs to be thrown under the bus). Or just a huge 50 slave unit to really lock somebody down, and then the engineer rides that second stormvermin rank. A thought on better points use.

Re: flame banner, I've become pretty disillusioned with it myself, and now go with +1M (but this is for the bell, which gets impacts and is significantly biased towards engaging in combat in your own turn).
