A new day, a new time zone.

Only if one of them has a special rule that it doesn't take up an HQ slot.

Not in any of the standard missions.

Some codices have special rules that allow them to take HQs which don't take up slots (Greater Daemon for Chaos Space Marines), or take two HQ units for one slot, like Space Wolves, or Chaos Daemons Heralds.

Nope, though there are some armies with certain exceptions. For example, IIRC the Black Templar's Emperor's Champion doesn't take up an HQ slot, and Dark Eldar can take up to three Haemonculi as a single HQ choice. There are other armies with similar composition rules.

alright, then yea i have probably been playing my templars wrong, i have been having A Marshall (Commander) Grimaldus, and Helbrecht. and i just checked all of the above count as a HQ choice, however @Ratbot yea the Champion doesnt take up a HQ slot.

It is not wrong if you take a command squad for either your Marshall or Helbrect and attach Grimaldus to it. If you attach your chaplain to a command squad he does not take up an extra slot, So the marshal, a chaplain, and a command squad would then all count as one of your HQ choices.

Keep in mind grimauldus can never be attached to helbrechts command squad as they must take furious charge, and units with cenobites can never take veteran skills.

You may use anything I post, just remember to give me credit if used somewhere else.

@chaplaincliff, Right, i mean i more or less had ideas for both already, Helbrecht was going to take a scrappy squad of crusaders and neophytes to take up wounds, while Grimauldus was going to take a squad meant to dish out extreme damage and use the Cenobytes for there bonuses (free holy relics) and meat shield,

In the BRB (page number slips my mind at the moment) under the force organization rules, there is a note about multiple detachments. The overall concept being you can bring more than one table of organization if agreed to by an opponent. What it boils down to is you are bringing 2 or more “detachments” of the same army. This would allow you to field 4 HQs but only if you have two troops for each detachment at least, raising the Troop choice minimum to 4. This would also raise the cap for the HS Elite and Fast attack slots. The catch is this has to be ok’d by your opponent. An example might be as Space Marines, two of the Chapter’s companies are fighting side by side, neither acting as the senior ranking company. So they would bring all their own stuff, 1-2 HQ 2-6 Troops 0-3 Elite, Fast Attack, HS.
