Good evening all you wise converters of Dakka, I call upon your collective knowledge

I have a flat area of plasticard that is the bottom of a crew compartment and I am trying to find something to put on the plastic to give it some texture. I was hoping to find either something resembling diamond plate, diamond grate, or anything that you might find in an open topped vehicle that would give some grip and texture where people would walk.

I would really welcome any suggestions as to what I could use and where I might be able to buy it.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Google is your friend.

I know of this Google you speak of, but I figured this would be a good place to find out what people are using, where they are buying, etc.

Input from fellow gamers vs random store on Google is part of the reason why I am on Dakka after all

No idea on who to buy from. If the Warstore carries plastruct odds are they carry diamond plate, so try there.

I admit, I just googled it as well, since I have never used textured styrene.

I think I have heard in the past that HO scale is usually pretty close to heroic scale. Would that be the best size to use?

And it really doesn't have to be diamond plate, just looking for something other than "flat styrene" for the floor, since it is very visible in the model. So any suggestion for textures beside diamond plate is welcome as well.

Just get some mesh and lay it on top of the plasticard... a nice textured floor relatively cheap, and you can get fine mesh pretty easily in all kinds of places.

HO scale is too small for 28mm. S scale is what you are looking for.

Try Plastruct.com.

They have both diamondplate AND "checkerplate" (some countries call it one thing, others call it the other).

Seconding the S gauge sizing ('S' is a gauge, not a scale. Most model railway, whilst having set scales, also uses the letter codes for the gauges - like Z, N, O, OO, HO, S, etc)

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

If you want to do this on the cheep you can use simple flyscreen.

However the textured styrene will look a bit more realistic.
