Please, I am kinda new. I based this list on a infantry based list. I do not currently own models outside AoBR. But I will buy more. I wanted to throw a list out there to see if I could get some constructive critisism on what I could do better. Its a dakka based slogging infantry. I am not 100% familiar with the Codex yet... so please don't be too harsh. I don't want to make a tournament list, nor do I want to be feeble. Please help me out.

Warboss
Power Klaw
Twin Linked Shoota
Cybork Body
Bosspole
105 pts

30 Ork Shoota Mob
1 Nob with Power Klaw
3 Big Shootas
230 pts

20 Ork Shoota Mob
Nob with Powerklaw and Boss Pole
2 Big Shootas
170 pts

3 Deffkopta (Hell, they are in the set)
All with Twin Linked Rokkits
And Big Bomms (Actually, I think its funny, additionally combining Hit and Run and Turbo Boosters might yield something good)
180 pts

5 Lootas
75pts

5 Lootas
75pts

11 Lootas
165

Total comes out to 1000 pts.

Comments? I wanna have a good list. I was wondering if slogging that much was a bad idea, and if transports were absolutely needed. I wanted a good list before I actually started purchasing models, so I have an idea of what to go for.

EDIT: I might go for even squads of 7 for the Lootas, and each Deffkoptas as its own unit. That'd add survivability to the koptas, and some more equal spread of firepower from the lootas.

Hey ICSP! Don't worry about bein new, every Waaagh! starts somewhere

As for your list, you have the right idea going on. Shoota Boyz are your best bet for foot sloggin', it's good to have those Deffkoptas for some tank hunting, and Lootas are the best dakka!
There are a few changes though to make it more killy and help you not get shot up so bad.

First, pretty much every variant of a competitive Ork Army has a Big Mek with a Kustom Force Field. Rolling up Boyz with their t-shirt saves is gonna get them killed pretty badly. Unfortunately, it is hard to get a Big Mek with a KFF to stay alive long if he isn't out of LOA or in a Battlewagon. I reccomend the wagon, bigger force field, big armor.

Second, you are better off having 3 Mobs of Shoota Boyz of around 20 boyz each. Gives you more versatility, and another PK Nob.

Third, the deffkoptas...Big Bomms are funny I agree but they really are not killy. At all. If i were you I would take only 2 Deffkoptas in individual units with Rokkits and Buzzsaws, and use em as suicide tank hunters.

Lastly, Lootas! If you're gonna take 3 units, squads of 7. But honestly, they are a lot better in a bigger unit, that is why I would reccomend 10-12 in 2 different units.

The main thing is that KFF cover save. That will really help. Apart from that, this list doesn't get super-competitive until you get some transports or killa kans to make a wall, or just go green tide (which is boring).

Hope that helps ya mate.

I agree with getting a KFF in there. All your boyz are walking, and almost every weapon ignore the 6+ armour save, so giving them a 5+ cover save means a 3rd fewer boyz will die before they get into combat.

Boyz before toys! And you're foot slogging the army, so you need even more boyz.
3 koptas in 1000 points is overkill, they are nice for taking out a transport or something, but they are a lot of points. Don't take more than 2, personally, I'd only take one with a TL rokkit and a buzz saw at 1000 points.
Take those points and get more boyz.
I agree that 3 squads of 20 will benefit you more, that extra PK will make all the difference!

As for the lootas, 3 squads of 5 will be enough for 1000 poitns.
If you have the points, take one squad of 15 an one squad of 5. when they are 15 they have the benefit of loosing 4 guys and still being fearless. Even when you've lost 6, you still have a leadership of 9, that helps!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I do not currently own models outside AoBR.

I somehow missed that.
Once you've played a few games you'll have a much better idea of what you want, so don't go buying too many things right now. The orks can go in 10 different directions, each with their unique set of units. So to make best use of what you have.

Ok, now, still buy that KFF mek, he will be the most valuable unit in your army, and definitely worth the money!

Use 2 koptas with TL rokkit and a buzz saw.

Lootas are insanely expensive, my suggestion would be, take 3 squads of 5 (you'll have to buy 4 packs, as you're only getting 4 of them in a pack, the 5th guy is a mek)

And then, take 2 squads of 20 boyz, and one squad of nobs, put the nobs in the middle with the big mek.

KFF Mek is a definite must!

I never run an army without him no matter what else I take.

Also drop at least one of the koptas and none need to take bombs. I normally run one with a saw and one with just a rokkit. Although at 1000 points I would probably only take one or the other.

I also would run 3 squads 20 of boys and give all 3 nobs a bosspole and klaw. I would also be tempted to maybe swap out one Big shoota for a rokkit in each squad but thats just my personal preference.

I think you are definitely on the right track and your list is quite focused which Ork lists need to be. Its easy to get side tracked by Orky craziness which is all good fun but in now way competitive! Pick a route you want to go down and stick with it.

One other thing is Battlewagons with Deffrollas are amazing! I love them and in a 1500 point army I run 3 of them! Boys and nobs inside with a KFF mek and they storm across the table running down anything in their path. D6 strength 10 hits is also handy when theres a Land raider redeemer in your way! :-D

Good luck!

Personally I think this is a great starter list. You're starting out better than most newbies to Orks. You've got a footslogging list here supported by Lootas from the back and Deffkoptas to pop vehicles / harass. It's a good strategy.

I say KEEP your Big Bomms on your Deffkoptas. Have fun with them. Play them for a couple games before you go changing stuff. Maybe after a few games you'll decide they're not worth the points, or you'll decide to hang onto them, but they're a fun toy to use, and in a 1000 point game, I think they'll be amusing.

My only advice is really:

Get rid of 6 Lootas from the 11 Loota mob, and use those points to buy a KFF Mek.

Run each Deffkopta as a SINGLE Deffkopta. Don't put them in a squadron.

Have fun!

Welcome to the Waaaagghhhhh

You have a good list.

attack squig on your warboss, get this from nob box? nob box will help you model the nobs you need and equip the AoBR nobs.
Bosspole on every nob. Not really needed for a squad of 30 but it is just good practice.
Buzzsaws on the koptas, just in case you miss or Leman Russes have bad back armour.
Big bombs are useless, there is no way you'll be able to use them on the first turn they arrive or your own first turn. They'll then die before using the bomb, which is fine as rockets and then three buzzsaw attacks autohitting is well worth the risk.

Mek with kff is a good investment, actually if you are footslogging it is not so needed.

If you want to expand the list some grots to protect the lootas or take the full 3 squads of 30 boyz some with more shootas or 9 big guns or 9 kannons and loads of ammo runts would be good.

Happy wargamming.

Do Grotz have much tactical purpose? I know they have a higher BS than orks, but most tactica I read just describe them as meat shields.

Also, a KFF Mek is expensive, maybe I could wrap some copper coil around a screw or three and glue that to a Mek. J/k... but... srsly not a bad idea.

Thats th great thing about Orks; you can. Convert your AoBR Warboss into a Big Mek, just to save money, I did that and it looks great.

Grots have 2 uses, meat shield, and going to ground on an objective for a 3+ cover save.
They also have special rules for clearing land mines, but that's not something you'll see in a normal game.

Your idea with the screw and wire to make a KFF is genius!
Don't be afraid to do a little modding and create your own units... if you have the time. I've seen a lot of great ideas where ork players made their own units, from posing nobs on toy store bought bikes, to creating truks from scratch. It really adds flavour to your army.
