I have recently got back into Warhammer after having a short break. When I asked my friend what units I should get for my Spacemarine army he said to get things like Nemesis Dreadnoughts and Valkyies, none of which being Spacemarine units. When I said that he told me that you can use any unit from the Imperium as a Spacemarine unit; just paint it differently. I found this very hard to believe.

So is this true?

EDIT:
Thanks, guys. Something told me that that was bs. I just wanted to make sure.

You can't mix and match units from different codices. Apocalypse is the sole exception, where you can just build a list of anything and everything. Your friend is all kinds of wrong.

And how old is your mate?

No, you can't mix and match units from one codex to the next.

This means:
No Nemesis dreadnights unless you are using the Grey Knights codex.
No stormraven unless you are using either Blood Angels Or Grey Knights.
No valkyrie unless you are using Imperial Guard.

Unless it's apocalypse, which is just like playground wars - complete with the "you're dead", "am not" arguments.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.
