Do moniliths use the same rules as SM drop pods if held in reserve? I know a silly question but I have been reading here and other forums with post that elude that they do.

You mean come in on the first turn?

I don't think so... I don't remember that in the codex.

The only rule they share is Deep Strike.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life.

They do not have the drop pod assault rule(or Monolith Assault rule(cool as that term sounds like it would be)).

They do not have a guidance system in them allowing them to avoid models(friend or foe) or impassible terrain.

They do have deep strike rule, otherwise they are more like the BA land raiders(a giant hunk of metal falling from the sky).

Monoliths used to have special deep strike abilities that helped them avoid dropping on top of dangerous things. They no longer do.

In the old codex, the Monolith would move aside models in the path of its Deep Strike. Kind of similar to a drop pod's guidance, except backward. That might be what's fueling the bad information you're getting. As of the new codex, Monoliths just have plain Jane Deep Strike rules.

Huh, you'd think something that big falling from the sky would squish anything it landed on, guess not. *shrug*

It teleports, it doesn't fall from the sky. Ever see what happens when a giant brick tries to occupy the same space as another object and the quantum forces rip it apart like so much cheese cloth? No? Neither have I, because we don't have teleportation. Science Fiction =/= real science.

You mean like a BA Land Raider?

If we were trying to use logic and actual physics in the game, it would take allot longer to setup a game, and an army arriving from deep strike in drop pods or BA in LR would be a troops worst nightmare(hey whats that coming from the sky.... Squish).
