I don't know if anyone uses the veteran abilities ruleset from the rulebook, but I was just looking at it and liked what I saw, I think personalising units over a campaign is neat. My question however is thus: If a unit with fearless was bestowed fearless by the veteran abilities, is that tough luck or would you re-roll as per the provisor about rolling duplicates on the table? Same goes for any ability that would be bestowed if the unit already has it. This is very much you-make-da-call, 'cos I can't see any RAW answer. Cheers in advance.

Where are the veteran abilities listed, I can not find them in the 5th ed Rule book.

But I would say just ask your gaming group about weather you can re-roll or if you are SOL.

Come to a consensus with your group, because everyone in the group will encounter this at one point or another in the course of the campaign.

Veteran abilities are items such as Tank Hunter, Scout, Infiltrate etc. The idea being as a campaign progressed untis that did well would gain "experience" in the form of enhanced abilities.

I would just house rule it with your group. The campaign "rules" in there are more of an example of a system you could use when running a campaign...so really its wholly up to you.

I would reroll it...as having a campaign unit become more fearless is just silly

Know thy self. Everything follows this.

I still do not see these 'campaign "rules" ' anywhere, been over the rules in full twice now.

Anyone have any idea where they are listed?

Am I missing them?

They're not in the rules section, they're in the fluff bit, page 263.

Ahh see, I have the AOBR book, it only goes up to 112.

TY for the reference anyway.

The AOBR book has ALL of the essential rules.

You're only missing out on the half-assed campaign rules and a couple of rather lame missions.

3rd and 4th ed had much better campaign sections.

I agree that the mejority of the campaign rules and missions aren't very good, but I liked the look of personalising squads over the course of a campaign, so I'm interested in this one. I guess we'll have to house rule it, but thanks anyway guys

if something already has special rule and the dice said they had to take that same rule again I would let the person re-roll despite the fact that it would severly disadvtage me. I play ig and almost nothing has special rules already on it.

I would agree with the re-role. In fact we had the same thing come up.
