I want to start my Double Wing army so I want to get a good list first before I start buying the models.

Questions about this list:
- Should I take more CML? more AC?

That means for models, I need to get:
10x TH/SS
10x TLC
10x SB/PF (2 w/HF + 2 w/AC + 2 w/CML)
3x Bikes
1x Attackbike

I think this list looks good, but is it worth it to take sammael when you are only taking 1 bike squad?
IMO you need 2 or 3. And your bike squad should take 2 meltaguns or 2 plasma guns, not 1 of both.
More CMLs is always good, but personally I like ACs too.

I love playing Doublewing. I thinkyou have the right idea. But it really lacks stuff.

I like Sammael in this list, but I don't like him on a Bike. He is not a IC so can be targeted pretty easily. I would put him in the Armor 14 speeder. Now with this you really need some other speeders to help him out.

I think you also have to many DW squads. You really only need about 3-4 squads with some support. The support will take the enemies Heavy weapons off of the terminators and onto the support.

I use only one bike squad. I like them to be mobile objective takers late game. I only every give them Plasmaguns. I don't like meltas as they have to get to close to use them and then die from a assault or mass fire at short range. keep them away form they enemy. I los like to give them a Apothacary to help with overhets from the plasma and small arms fire. Most that I have played ignored the bikes for the most part as they had more to worry about.

I don't like SB/PF terminators in my army. They really don't provide enough fire power to worry about and in CCthey are striking last. if you want to strike last might as well take TH/SS at least you will get a 3+ inv. I like to have 3 LC's and 2 TH/SS in my terminator squads, along with a CML. I have not had luck with AC's but if you think they can be useful then by all means try them. I just think the CML's can do the same job but better.

So with all that being said thi is what i run for my 2k Doublewing army. This is really to show you want can be done. Please take it with a grain of salt and wiht my play stylke. yours can be different and should be to suit your play style.

This list hs done pretty good for me. I am probably at 60-70% win ratio. It is a tough army as you don't have alot. What you have is hard hitting though.

You have 6 troops so you do not Sammael anyway.
I would not have 6 deathwing, I reckon 4 maybe 5 would be good in pure deathwing list.

3 Deathwing CML with cc weapons one with banner and apoth.
3 lots of 3 bikers with plasma guns and meltabombs
3 attack bikes
3 typhoons
Then a couple of vindis if I have points about right.

CML are dirt cheap, in an expensive codex you take cheap, it is like not taking three typhoons.

I agree, I don't need more capturing units since I have plenty already. If I drop Sammael, I can fit in more bikes and an Attack Bike. That way they will live long enough for Deathwing Assault to happen.

Do you think dropping Sammael is a good idea? I think the 2 bike squad with Attack Bike will survive long enough to get all the terminators deep striked in. Plus, Scout move THEN multimelta will wreak any vehicle.

Yesif you are running 6 quads then you don't really need the bikes to hold. But if you run 3-4 like most do then the bike squad could be useful to grab one fast. They do have more movement then the terminators do.

Like I said its nice to have bikes with a apoth in there squad. it helps with survivability.

MFletch: Why use the bike on Sammael? What do you gain from that? He seems better in Speeder then in bike.

I use the jetbike as that is the model that I have. I have proxied but feel the jetbike is slightly better.

It takes three shots to take down the bike not one melta or lance shot then you also have an inv. save. Plus in cc av10 is paper thin.

Yes get rid of those SB and add CC weapons. CML's everywhere.

Yes, take more CMLs and typhoons, if you want as good army as possible. But as I said before I like ACs too.
I actually like SB/PF terminators, but maybe im just giving myself an excuse to use all 20 models that I have of them... With my 10 assault terminators of course.

I agree, I need to find more CML. :( Too bad the Veteran sprues of DA only have Assault Cannons.

@balsak: I don't have Vindicators, would two squad of Devastator be suffice?

You could try them for sure. I never tried devs but they should work. A little to none mobile for my choice.
