I have been wondering this for some time now. The wikias tell nothing.
Do they just recruit volunteers like other organisations in the Imperium or do you have to be/do something remarkable in order to get accepted as an initiate? Or is there an academy like Schola Progenium which provides them with a steady flow of new members? I would be grateful if you enlightened me.

Adeptus Mechanicus are a civilization within a civilization. They have worlds, cities, a population, etc.. Most Tech-Priests are Tech-Priests because they were born into a Tech-Priest family. Though I imagine an outsider can also join if you are high enough status and "worthy"

Thanks for the response. I always imagined that "worthy" residents from Forge Worlds might enter their ranks much like notable Imperial citizens can apply to the Ecclesiarchy.
But can regular Tech-priests propagate? I thought they had replaced most of their "equipment" during their years of service and augmentation.

Like you said they just join their priesthood. Tech-Priests don't make tech-priest-babies just like priests don't make priest-babies.

The population of Forge Worlds are either citizens of the Ad mech or the Imperium. Ad mech citizens can advance in their service to the machine god, they can either go down the road of the Skittarii or the Techpriest.
Basically everyone started out as a normal human working in the foundries and assembly lines. the vast majority of people will remain at this level.
Those who show an aptitude for the workings of the machines will recieve greater training and augmetics.
Then some individuals may show eligibility to be genehanced and given augmetics to become Skittarii.
Eventually the person will become more and more valuable, recieve greater training and augmetics. Eventually the person becomes a Techpriest or Skittarii. There are then different levels to each branch.
