Hi guys i have been pondering on the idea of making a ork drop pod army, has this ever been done? I really like the idea of my army using the ramshackle games boring machine as a counts as drop pod and theaming it around them.

Anyone have any thoughts?

heres the machine

1. Why is this in 40k Proposed Rules?
2. Is there a Drop Pod option in Codex: Orks? No.

1. Possibly so he can come up with rules?

As to the question, possibly. Usually though the Orks just use meteors/bits of junk and careen through the atmosphere.

Harsh dude,

@OP I like the idea but you should come up with the rules then post.

I would say that it would be cool, but there would have to be some serious downsides, as Orks are a CC based swarm army.

Ya, I play Crons, what about it?
Also, they are just shiny space zombies with guns.

orks usually drop in meteors with rockets strapped on, a "Rok". i think something along the lines of zagstruk's rules would be fair. lets say you can only deepstrike 12 boyz (like a trukk) and if you assult the turn you deep strike d3 orks die from casualties landing. or maybe take out the assult the turn they deep strike but d3 orks should die i think. and it costs 35 points

Has the same rules like a Space Marine drop pod, or even better, can drill right through tanks or mulch units like a Mawloc?
can carry up to 15 models
30ish points?
maybe more if you want to include the drill attack

Ork SneekyKan- 45 pts
transport capacity: 20(10 meganobz)
AV10, 10, 10

Special rules: Wotz a gidince?

Wotz a gidince?: Ork drop pods are completely incapable of deploying in any logical or coherant way. They are always treated as deep striking into the centre of the board and scatter the highest number of dice they can without going off the board(on a 48 by 60 board, a sneekykan will scatter 4d6, or half of 48 inches). If a "direct hit" is rolled, roll again.

Actual conversation from my stats class-
Student: Why is the denominator on that equation n-1?
Prof: n is very good, but n-1 is also very good.

GENERATION 5: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.

I like it. As for rerolling direct hits, the scatter die has an arrow on the Direct Hit sides. You can use that.

Also, it'd be funny if the SneekyKan destroyed any vehicle it hits while unburrowing, friend or foe.

Maybe not complete destruction, because even with the luck you need to hit something, nothing is a 100% kill. Perhaps it is treated as a charging vehicle, tank shocking and ramming. we could say it has a "top armor" of 13 for this purpose. Also, if it scatters into impassable terrain, the obstacle is mashed into difficult terrain. This may be too OP, as it would mean that it NEVER mishaps.

I always figured that orks could deepstrike anything they wanted by just pushing it out of the bomm bayz and hopin' for da best. I can just imagine a stompa stuck in a drop pod sideways, feet and head sticking out of either end, though. Hystarical.

Wherever the Emperor commands.

In my mind an ork drop pod would be like a SM drop pod, but it can tank shock (and cause X D6 S X AP X wounds( on the unit AND The ork squad inside)) if it hit a unit, and the unit would need to move out of the way.

combine that with the "Wotz a gidince?"

i had the same thought recently and created this:

LOOTED DROP POD
35 POINTS
CAPACITY -(CHOOSE ONE)
-20 ORK BOYZ
-15 ORK BOYZ IN 'EAVY ARMOR
-1 DEFF DREAD
CAN ONLY DEEP STRIKE FROM RESERVE
WHEN DEEP STRIKING ROLL 3D6 AND KEEP HIGHEST 2
NO DISTANCE REDUCTIONS, HOMERS OR BEACONS USEABLE
UNIT CANNOT CHARGE ON TURN IT ARRIVES
ON A ROLL OF 4+ THE UNIT SUFFERS A MISHAP AND ROLLS D6
ON DROP POD MISHAP TABLE
1-2 POD LANDS BUT IT TAKES A WHILE FOR THE ORKS TO GET INTO POSITION PROPERLY

UNIT CAN ONLY SNAP FIRE WHEN SHOOTING.
CANNOT ASSAULT OR BENIFIT FROM A WAUUGH
3-4 POD LANDS BUT THE STABALIZERS FAILED LEAVING THE ORKS SHAKEN AND UNABLE TO WALK PROPERLY
UNIT IS PINNED AND MUST GO TO GROUND.
IF THE UNIT CHARGES NEXT TURN IT DOES NOT BENIFIT FROM FURIOUS CHARGE
5-6 POD BURIES ITSELF INTO THE GROUND AT SUCH A HIGH IMPACT THAT YOU HEAR A FEW ORK HEADS GO SQISH ON IMPACT

hope this helps

As this is an Ork machine, it should be able to pull a hades breaching drill or mawloc on anything it hits rather than just straight out mishap.

1. Make it scatter like ig master of ordnance. 3d6 and 2d6 if a hit is rolled.
2. It causes 2d6 s2d6 ap- hits on whatever it lands. The units hit with a pad count as being tankshocked - friend or foe.
3. The pod itself is emidiately wrecked and counts as dangerous terrain. The boyz have to disembark through dangerous terrain.
