Hello all. I want to start off this thread by saying this is not a hate on the Necron Codex. Quite the contrary this is one of the best Codex's to come out in years IMHO. I love the new fluff and I love the new units for the Necrons, especially since the old Necron Codex was so boring and un-diverse (if that's a word).

Now on to the subject at hand. First off, has anyone noticed the unusual amount of spelling errors in the new Necron Codex? I have found multiple examples of sentences not making sense, and even the use of the word "the  in the Codex. Unfortunately I read the Codex several weeks ago and just now am pondering the spelling errors in the Codex, so I can't look them up without the reading the whole Codex again. Needless to say if you look through your Codex, or your FLGS's Codex, you will find the examples of the errors I am referring to.

Second, what does everyone think of the change in the Necron fluff?

I personally like the changes and believe it adds more depth and character to the Necron army as a whole. A lot of people I know say they don't like how the Necrons aren't "mysterious" anymore since the Codex pretty much gives away all the background, secrets, and stories of the Necrons. The old Codex gave a brief history and veiled the rest of their fluff in stories that were, for the most part, very vague and open to interpretation. The new Codex pretty much blatantly gives away all of the background and fluff and even names the C'tan, which brings me on to my next point about the fluff.

So the C'tan have all been destroyed and shattered and locked away in the Tesseract Labrynths?...so where is the Outsider? Is the Void Dragon still on Mars? Are the Deciever and Nightbringer the only two C'tan to have been unfortunate enough to be caught and blasted into tiny peices? I know the Codex says it is impossible to account for the amount of C'tan in the universe, but it doesn't even mention the Outsider or the Void Dragon. The outsider being the exception, the Void Dragon is the most powerful of the C'tan and is, according to most interpretations including Mechanicus the book, supplying Humanity with most of it's weapons and technology...or was anyway. My question is, how does all this fit into the new fluff, and what do you all think of the new fluff and the changes to both the Necrons and the C'tan?

I like the fluff. I'll take "make them more like Tomb Kings" over "angry old robots kill everything for no raisin" any day of the week. As for grammatical errors, those aren't uncommon. I'm rereading Rynn's World right now and it's littered with them. I usually find a typo or grammatical error in White Dwarf. GW doesn't have very good editors.

I've noticed the errors as well. Was wondering if my book just got misprint but others have it so kudos to the editors.

As for the new fluff.... sigh.... I am 40-60 on it.
Some of it is pretty good in my opinion, such as the Flayed Ones background. Necron devolving to a more primal level. Wanting to hunt prey, tracking it down until the right moment arises to strike. The kill happens and like sharks, they tear and slice at the body, a feeding frenzy of sorts. They "eat" but it just kinda falls through there metal bodies...
Another good thing is the personality (to a degree) the higher tiered Necrons have.

But there is more negative I think. Necrons being able to talk. Really? They were the army silently advancing through the screaming and half gooed bodies. And they are politicians none the less! The way the C'tans demise happened also fails to surpress the anger monkey dancing in my head. But I think what bothers me more is they really are not truely immortal anymore. When a Necron is beyond repair, no longer do they phase to the nearest Tomb World for more intensive. They instead self destruct. But maybe thats grounds as to phase-out being removed.

Didn't notice the errors, perhaps it was Matt Ward trying to get it out A.S.A.P., or being so hyped about it that he didn't concentrate
About the fluff, I preferred the old idea of the Necrons being almost mindless and just serving their purpose. The idea of them having character, betraying one another, talking as they do, is a bit off in my opinion. I do like the way the Canopteks are described though, they're pretty cool.

Before we get too far in here, it is important to note that the Codex did not change the fluff for Newcrons. 5th Edition Main Rulebook and Fall of Damnos did that.

Just FYI.

I dont like the new fluff much at all. There are choice units i enjoyed and others i thought were utterly mind numbing *COUGH flayed ones!! COUGH* And some of it just seemed like he was making a joke out of the necrons....Zandrehk...for instance?

Preferred the old fluff, much like Grey Knights. I personally think they should have gone another route with the fluff.

/Shrug. Can't change it, sadly.

Considering GK and Necrons didn't really have almost any fluff before, I'll take something over nothing.
