Monolith
As our standard fashion, dice rolls to determine our games, we like to keep it random. Jeff (myself) and The Pirate Capt each rolled a dice, we came up with Pitched Battle, Multi-Objective, Pirate Capt rolled the objectives and we maxed it, a wonderful 5 will be placed on the table.
Pirate Capt places 3 and I place 2, pretty much an objective in each of the 4 spearhead sections and one hiding behind a ballista that was stationed in the middle of the table.
Dice off for first turn, Pirate Capt takes with a 4, as I roll a 2, and he choose to go first. During Capt’s deployment as not to forget, I roll the dice for Grand Strategy, complements of Mordrak.
I roll a 5, and assign Counter-attack to all 3 x10 man Terminator squads, and before my deployment decide to combat squad all of them (instant 6 troop units) Once Capt’s Deployment was completed, my army would be completely in reserve to Deep Strike onto the table.
Here is the deployment picture, Red arrows are pointing to each of the 5 objectives. 2 of them on the Grey Knights side of the board you cannot see in this picture but can in the other 2.
Turn 1
As I was given the opportunity, I decided to roll to steal the Initiative. ROLLED a 6! Stolen! I was happy that I was able to steal but as any player should know, going on last turn is a better option in an objective game. I didn’t think of that when I rolled. Anyway…

Mordrak, 4 Ghost Knights and Librarian Deep Strike to Capt’s left corner table edge on the opposite side of a building ruin that a full 10 man Immortal squad was camped in over an objective. Librarian successful psych check and shoots 5 Immortals with Warp Rift, all 5 fail leadership and are removed. Mordrak and the Ghosts shoot their storm bolters and kill 2 Immortals and the Cryptec. Nothing else from Grey Knights can be deployed on first turn and that ended my movement, shooting and assault phase very quickly. The 4 remaining Immortals failed their Leadership check and ran 9 inches, putting 1 model off the table and they all disappeared. (Not a bad start for 6 terminators on the table)
Bottom 1
Pirate Capt started with turbo boosting a Scythe from his right side of the table toward the middle of the board. Command Barge ran a sweep attack over Mordrak’s unit, killing 1 Ghost Knight. Turbo boosted the 2nd Command Barge to the middle of the table as well. 2nd Scythe moved 12’’ to create a clear shot at the Ghosts, wounded 3 times, 3 saves made. Annihilation Barge shot, wounded 6 times, made 6 saves on Mordrak’s unit. 2nd Annihilation Barge shot, wounded 6 times also, made 5 saves with Mordrak’s unit again; the wound was taken by Mordrak. Monolith shoots with the whip, 3’’ scatter away from the unit, still clips 2 terminators, I make 1 save, fail the other, 1 more Ghost Knight gone. All shooting completed no assaults to be made, Mordrak makes a successful D3 against his wounds and gains a Ghost Knight back to defend him.

Mordrak Psychic Communion successful, and on a +3 I was able to get 4 of my 6 terminator squads to drop. Placed each of them in various locations on the board, but only one of them able to take advantage of a 1D6 scatter because of the Servo Skulls. Each group scattered either favorably or a 4-6’’ distance, nothing misshaped. Mordrak’s unit spaced out a bit in prep for more templates from the Monolith but moved toward the Command Barge that sweeped over them. Another successful Warp Rift check, and wrecked the Barge, forcing the Overseer out behind the wreckage out of assault range. One 5-man squad takes its 4 Psycannon shots at Monolith, no rends, no effect. Second 5-man Terminator squad has the range and shoots at Scythe that shot at Mordrak’s unit, caused a shaken/stunned result, but is removed with a successful Living Metal check. Third 5-man Terminator squad that dropped shoots the rear of the second Scythe, 2 glances, and 2 pens and wrecks the model on a 4+ because it went flat out. The fourth 5-man Terminator unit puts all their shots into a set of Immortals, killing 2, but both come back alive on tests.
Bottom 2
Overload moves past his wrecked Command Barge toward Mordrak’s unit. The remaining Scythe moves away from the left middle section of the table toward an objective and deploys its 5-man squad of Immortals and Cryptic. Monolith moves toward the 5-man Terminator squad that shot at it, hoping to get the range to suck them into the warp. Remaining Command Barge sweep attacks over the 5-man Terminators in front of the Monolith, 1 hit 0 wounds caused. Annihilation Barge moves to get better shooting angles. Capt casts Veil of Darkness to suck up and re-deploy the group of Immortals from his right side of the table to deploy on the left in the building that Mordrak’s unit had shot up in the top of the first round. They scatter into Mordrak’s unit, but Capt rolls a 6 on the mishap and they go back into reserve. Monolith’s gate hits 2 terminators, 1 successful 1 failed STR test, loss 1 of the 5 Terminators. Gauss weapons kill 1 more, down to 3 terminators. The Immortals that disembarked from the Scythe unload rapid fire on the 3 remaining terminators, killing 1 more. (Daemon Hammer and 1 Halberd/Psycannon remain). Annihilation Barge that did not move unloads all weapons at Mordrak’s unit, killing 2 Ghost Knights. Second Annihilation Barge shoots at them as well, killing off the last Ghost Knight. Scythe shoots at Mordrak and the Librarian, cause no wounds to the unit, but the tesla arch’s to the Overlord within 6’’ and causes a wound. Assault phase, Overlord charges Mordrak and the Librarian, successful Psych check for both Hammer Hand and Might of Titan, upping the Lib str to 6 and Mordrak to a 10 hammer. Librarian kills the Overlord, but Ever living roll by the Pirate Capt was successful and the Overlord stands back up after a 5’’ consolidation from Mordrak and Librarian.
Top 3
Pirate Capt declared a Night Fight for this round with Necron ability. Psychic Communion successful again this round, and the last 2 Terminator units Deep Striked onto the table. One of them dropped within 6’’ of the Librarian with the teleport homer, allowing the Librarian to join this unit. The 5-man Terminator unit that was now alone in Pirate Capt’s right hand table quarter moved toward the objective that the Immortal unit abandoned to Veil across the board. Taking Psycannon shots at an Annihilation Barge but failing to make the range with Night Fight. 5-man Terminators, that wrecked the Scythe moved toward the left table quarter objective in attempt to hold that ground alone also. The 2 remaining Terminators in front of the Monolith shot its Psycannon at the Monolith, no effect. The new 5-man Terminator squad that the Librarian now joined moves directly toward the Monolith, very close to within 6’’ for a charge. But did not end up being needed, Psycannon from that unit caused 2 rends, cause 2 Penetrations with the D3 add and a wreck on one of the results, Monolith crashes to the ground. Terminators this turn shot the Overlord that came back from Everliiving last round, kills him and this time does not stand back up from Everliving.
Bottom 3
C’Tan, who I forgot about even being on the table, moved out from behind the wrecked Monolith toward the Librarian/5-man Terminators he joined the previous turn. Scythe moved across open field to create room to shoot at the Librarian squad. 10 Immortals walked on the table edge from reserve, Lance weapon from the Cryptic kills Mordrak on a failed Iron Halo save. Librarian unit loses 2 Terminators to rapid Fire Immortal shooting. Scythe unloads into the unit as well, 5 wounds, 5 saves, no arch’s. Annihilation Barge shoots Librarian group, 5 wounds, 4 saves, Librarian takes a single wound. Lose 2 more Terminators in Librarian group to 2nd Annihilation Barge shooting(Leaves Librarian and 1 Halberd Terminator) C’Tan assaults the 2-man Terminator unit that was still sitting in front of the wrecked Monolith, kills the Halberd Terminator, Leadership failed, but wins the check to get away, the remaining Daemon Hammer Terminator runs 8’’ away from the fight.

The last remaining Terminator unit to Deep Strike comes onto my right hand table quarter to shoot at the Immortals. 5-man Terminator unit that in Pirate Capt’s left hand table quarter moved over difficult/dangerous terrain to get on top of the objective. I lost 1 of them to a dangerous check failing on a 1 or 2 because of C’Tan. Librarian unit of 1 Terminator moves toward C’Tan, Warp Rift hits C’Tan but makes his Ini test (Can’t always get that lucky) Psycannon immolized the Scythe. 5-man Terminators kill 2 Immortals in shooting. Librarian and single Terminator assault C’Tan. Hammerhand and Might of Titan both successful. On 6 swings from Halberds, 4 connect, MC from Librarian adds 1 more hit. Needing a 5-6 to cause a wound I COMPLETELY dice whored and rolled 3 5’s and 2 6’s…. 5 power weapon wounds on C’Tan, on a 4++, Pirate Capt fails 3 of them and C’Tan dies. Terminators that shot the Scythe down, assaulted and auto hitting with a Daemon Hammer Wrecks the vehicle.

10 man Immortal squad walks onto the table edge on Pirate Capt’s right edge, Cryptic template misses, 20 rapid fire Immortals cause 11 wounds, 2 terminators die. Annihilation Barge moves to shoot same Terminator unit now down to 3, causes 7 wounds, 7 saves made. Annihilation Barge moves and shoots at the 5-man terminators that killed the Overlord, also 7 wounds, 7 saves made. Immortals rapid fire into the Librarian/1 Terminator, 6 wounds, 6 saves. Command Barge shoots and kills the terminator in the Librarian group with gauss cannon. Overlord assaults the Librarian from the Command Barge, I pass the 3d6 added together Mind Shackle, Librarian with the higher Initiative swings first, hits 1 causes a wound, successful force weapon check, the Overlord is removed from play, 1’’ Massacre move.

The 2 remaining terminators that are standing on the objective in Pirate Capt’s right table quarter move out of cover to shoot/assault the 10 man Immortal squad. With only 2 of them left I can’t expect to stand there to be rapid fired again. At this point there is a full 5-man Terminator squad holding my left table quarter objective. A 4-man Terminator squad holding the right table objective, a 5-man terminator squad holding Pirate Capt’s left table quarter objective, I moved off the far right, and the middle objective not contested at all. Librarian moves and successful psych again, Warp Rift shakes the remaining Command Barge. The single Terminator that had run from C’Tan rallied and moved back toward the middle of the table. The 2 man unit assaulted the 10 man immortal squad and won combat, won combat, Pirate Capt fails leadership and runs off the table, consolidation only 1’’(NOT within range to hold objective needed at 3’’) At this point there was not much I could do with my speed or range.
Bottom 5
The 6 man remaining Immortals on Pirate Capt’s deployment area moved toward the middle objective, and ended up running 5’’ in the shooting phase to capture that objective. Annihilation Barge moves flat out and with a successful dangerous terrain check lands within 3’’ of my far left objective(now its contested with that and my 4 Terminators). The 2nd Barge shoots and kills 1 terminator from the 2 man unit that no longer is in range of its objective to contest at all, I pass the leadership check and stand still, just inches from it. Command Barge moves flat out and contests another objective with 5 Terminators. At that point, 2 objectives contested, 2 unheld, 1 held by Necrons. Pirate Capt rolls a 2 and the game ends.
