Going to get going on a 40k project this winter and have been exploring different green paints.
For the Space Marine chapter the Raptors, what green paint do you guys think would best for that?

Well, as far as I know the Raptors are a 'drab olive green', which frankly I have no idea what that means. For me, the Raptors have always been a dull green, compared to the brightness of the greens you see in say, Salamanders.
So I think something like Knarloc Green would work well as the base.

Btw, excellent choice of Chapter.

I'm no pro, and I don't play them personally, but looking at this link:
http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Raptors#Chapter_Colours

tells me that I personally would base coat with this:
http://www.krylon.com/products/indooroutdoor_paint/

with the "Satin Italian Olive" they offer
(scroll down a little, under "Color Offerings," select the green in the top row, center column).

If Krylon isn't your flavor:

or
1 of the greens on this page:
http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?pid=124

Again, if none of the above are to your taste:
Basecoat "Orkshide Green" followed by "Snot Green + Rotting Flesh"
or
"Knarloc Green" (add "Rotting Flesh" to flavor until as desired)
(Color sources:

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?

For my Raptors I use a black base coat then a drybrush of Cayman green and then a drybrush of camo green. A light green ink wash ties it all together.

It comes down to whether you want to match the "GW style" and use brighter colours - As Todosi has done to a very nice TT standard - or if you want to follow the style and colours of the ForgeWorld images.

If it's the latter, you'll want to be looking through something like the Vallejo Model Colour range, for more military greens. I've just ordered a large batch, so I can't tell you which one(s) match them "in the flesh" as opposed to on an online store's colour chart.

Thanks for the advice.
I got some of them and am prepping for an on sprue color test.
