Where the sun crosses the field of blood.

Hey guys.
So, I want to get a dragon (who doesn't?), and I just don't know what mini to choose.
I've been searching around a bit, and I think FWs Carmine Dragon, Ultraforge's Dragon and the Macfarlane dragons are all ace... But I can't really decide. Currently I'm leaning towards Macfarlanes, but there's something about the toy-status of the dragons there (as opposed to "actual" wargaming miniatures).
So, do you have any other alternatives I've overlooked? What advice can you give?
Also, I'm planning to do a frost dragon, and while I could probly do that with a paintjob on any dragon mini, this is what leans me toward Macfarlanes.

TL;DR: Post best dragon miniature.

I'm just gonna go ahead and assume you mean Dark elf Dragon.

I like the Big Forge World Dragon personally but it is on the pricey side.

It's also one of the most expensive dragons on the market and you'll have approximately a 5 year wait if you order one now, going by their production speed on existing orders.

I'm a huge fan of Forgeworlds dragons, I've said this in the rumours forum.

The Fire dragon is a classic dragon. People have compared it to alligators and crocodiles, but it is really the classic image of a dragon you'd picture when thinking about Smaug from the Hobbit or some other old fantasy novel

The Carmine dragon is a more modern vision of a dragon, and very aggressive in appearance.

The Toad Dragon, while being very unique, is downright brutal, and an awesome reimagining of the old GW Toad Dragon.

The Chaos dragon is beyond words. Absolutely stunning.

They vary in price, but all are amzing dragon model.

I completely forgot about FW! Carmine Dragon rocks as does the Chaos Dragon.

If I were to go out and buy one regardless of price, it would probably be the Carmine Dragon.

Have to echo the warning about the Heresy dragon... I hate to do it in every thread it pops up in, but seriously- you'll pay 200 pounds now, and be 250 people or so back in the queue, with only 25 or so dragons sent out to date... you WILL be waiting years for it.

So, despite its' massive awesomeness, I would not consider it as an option at this point...

It's apparently really hard to make an awesome dragon for a decent price, but there are other options out there! Some of which Loki lists out.

My personal ranking:
1.) McFarlane's look best (even if they are not toy soldier toys) -> 15 $ plus OOP D&D Dragons (15-100$)
2.) High Elf and Dark Elf Dragon by GW, old school (mostly smaller) dragons by Grenadier ( http://www.mirliton.it/index.php?cName=fantasy-2528mm-dragons ), Reaper ( http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/BoxedSets/latest ), Fenryll ( http://www.fenryll.com/category.php?id_category=22 ), Dark Sword ( http://www.shop.battlefield-berlin.de/index.php/katalog/showarticles/20520-1-drachen.html ) and Ral Partha ( http://www.ralparthaeurope.co.uk/dragons-c-60.html plus old Guardian Dragon ) 15-100$
3.) FW and Heresy 200+ $

So generally, the more they cost, the less I like the design.

The McFarlane ones(while awesome sculpts) look too small to really be used as mounts. They would make decent stand alones for special missions though.

Where the sun crosses the field of blood.

Thanks for all the tips!
There are quite a few more dragons than I could find, but the main issue seems to be to be able to see scale comparison...
I'm actually not using the dragon as a mount, so it's cool on that front.
I'm also looking for the dragon to be massive rather than thin, but still being able to fit him on a chariot base without having him balancing on one foot...
I'm leaning to Ultraforge's as it gives a mighty impression, not being on the too pricy side, and the removeable howdah + included magnets for wings tempt.. With the Carmin Dragon a close second.
However, I haven't really taken a good look at the Dark Elf one yet.
