I can't claim to be privy to the studio's plans, but it came up in conversation with the local Redshirt, who informed me that rumour/guesswork among the staff is that the Dark Angels will be amalgamated into the next Space Marine Codex, presumably with Belial and Sammael as special characters with FoC-altering rules.

I hear from a few friends of mine who work free lance for the studio guys that Jeremy Vetork is writing the new Dark Angels and it will be out after Tau.

I've never heard this rumor, but that would be Jeremy Vettock's first foray into 40k writing, no? Interesting to have someone new writing 40k rules. I'm super curious what GW will do to make them different though; right now the only thing they have that stands out from Codex: Space Marines is the Deathwing.
The rumor of them getting folded into Codex: Space Marines is wishful thinking on some players' part. As a former Dark Angels player, I wouldn't mind it. I don't see GW getting rid of a Space Marine variant list though - they're essentially licenses to print money for GW, and getting rid of one wouldn't help sales.

Actually he has been a contributing author on a few other 40K codex’ and is the author of the new Tau book due to come out soon. He is credited with game development on the DE, BA, and GK books.

Source on him working on the new Tau codex? Every codex since the most recent Eldar one has been Cruddace, Kelly, or Ward, with the possible exception of Daemons.

If I revealed my sources I wouldn’t have them anymore. Have patience and you shall see. But consider the fact that he has been contributing a lot more to fantasy these days, as the author of Beastmen, Skaven, and Ogres moving on to 40K is the next logical step. Ward started as a fantasy writer then moved over, until he wrote 7th ed Orcs he was just that B#$ch boy in that work on LOTR, fetched coffee, and snuck into the background on almost every WD article.

Well I hope you're right then Some new blood in 40k (even if it's comparatively old blood) can only be a good thing.

I agree with you, 40K needs some new perspective. If it makes you feel better my source has been right about the last 3 40K codex’, plus the Sisters WD debacle, and the past 4 fantasy books. So I trust them.

What would the opinions be on Jervis J doing another DA codex?

Did he do the 3rd edition one? Gav and Alessio did the 4th ed one. It's been a long time since he's written a codex, although I'm sure he has at least a small hand in all of them.

I would love one. Would be cool to see one after tau or something. I hope they have their own codex, the only plus that I see from having them folded into the Space Marine codex is that it would come out relatively fast after 6th comes out.

They need to come out after the 6th ed Space Marine book. If they don't, then we'll just see a repeat of the 4th ed book. Dark Angels will lay the groundwork, then Coded: SM will come in, steal the good bits and add even more cool stuff.

Actually no, the last codex was written by Jervis Johnson and Andy Hoare. At this stage in the game both of them are so out of touch with the game it would be a disaster if they wrote another book. Even at the time the current book came they were out of touch and it was way under powered compared to other codex’. Given the cast of current writers the game has passed Johnson and Hoare by.

Whoever writes it, I don't want to have to wait for an FAQ to add some playability to my codex.
On a side note what happened to Owen Rees? Wasn't/Isn't he the DA player at GW currently?
