Alright, let's have a look at shaping my brood into something that I can field with equal parts of glee and morbid pride.
Tier 4:
Absylonia +5
Stinger - 2
Shredder - 2
Shredder - 2
I might actually pick up two stingers and keep only one shredder for the animus, although I am not quite sure. shredders are good for combat, that is a given, but do I need two more tiny melee threats?
Angelius - 8
Scythean - 8
Typhon - 11
A fairly decent balance of beasts, each of which can multitask in plenty of ways. I am, however, contemplating going with a carnivean instead of the Scythean, simply because the C-rex is such an 'ard beatstick and all additional attacks at str18 with abby's buffs are just plain... brutal.
Then again, so is a scythean with her buffs.
Forsaken - 2
Forsaken - 2
Bursty nuke, tiny beatsticks, and fury management as well, including a third is, to me, not an option at the moment, I just don't have enough fury to fuel three of them AND absylonia. At least I don't think so, and if a beast does die, there will be even less fury to go around. Two does, however, feel quite right, and is also the requirement to reach the Tier list.
This list, however, comes to 33 points, so, to up it, here are the things I have considered:
1. Swapping Scythean for a Carnivean and adding a Shepherd to get some extra beast healing into it, slightly less crowd clearing capacity, but a somewhat higher single target damage output, also, a longer range in which to force warbeasts is never really bad. I wouldn't consider two shepherds, especially not with the two forsaken in there. But a carnivean and a shepherd would upp it to 35.
2. Proteus and a shepherd, although this does add a LOT of beastcontrol, and would probably be better of for a 50 point list than 35, the pull could be fun utility and help fix a lot of sticky situations, but yeah, I'm not entirely "into" this option.
3. Adding a spawning vessel with a maximised crew, they're allowed into the tier list, it's three points, and there WILL be corpse tokens generated against most armies with beasts like these. However, there aren't that many targets, and they would seem awfully squishy and "easy" targets compared to the other models in my list. Then again, 3 points for enemy shooting focusing them over warbeasts for a round could well be worth it. I think it would be a fun unit to field in the list, but I'm not sure it would trump the Scythean upgrade into a Carnivean. Also, Carnivore, which will likely be thrown on whatever big nasty is getting into the fray, is really rather counter intuitive with the Spawning Vessel.
So, any thoughts on my current options? Any other suggestions for an Absylonia tier 4 list?
And for the second list, Tier 3 from the Rhyas list from NQ36
(typhon, beasts, swordsmen, ogrun and ogrun warspears, shepherds and ogrun solos)
Rhyas, sigil of Everblight +6
Typhon - 12
Scythean - 9
Angelius - 9
At tier 3, I get to start with Rhyas' upkeep spells already in play, and wont have to pay for them on round one. I figure this a good opportunity to start the game with the babies juiced up, set and ready to be unleashed on whatever needs unleashing. However, is this a good enough loadout of beasts for him? Does he want any others? I figured that the Scythean and Angelius like his spells, and Typhon buffs the list to tier 3 and isn't really a beast of modesty.
10x Nyss Blighted Swordsmen - 8
Abbot and Champion - Free of charge due to tier bonus, doesn't count toward FA
Never used them, but they seem like an interesting unit, and only ever heard good things about them. They will get new heads though, not those goblinoid grotesques they call faces right now. Are they worth taking? They do add bodies. On the other hand, they DO add bodies, for enemies that like soul/corpse tokens, this unit might be a tad bit risky to include.
Right now, as it stands, this list comes to 32 points... again. And again, I stand with three different options on what to do to juice it up a bit more with those remaining points.
1. Add an Ogrun Warchief, he's big, he's tough, he hurts quite a bit and he'll chew through infantry, but, I'm not sure he would be worth the points, three points for a single model who cannot buy extra attacks doesn't seem incredible. On the other hand, as said, he can probably wade through an infantry unit in a round, especially with Rhyas' buffs to play with.
2. A shredder (or maybe a stinger? Or even a harrier for the animus if she can pull enough damage without her crit), and a shepherd. There are three large beasts, and I am not sure Rhyas alone can handle all that fury.
3. Same option as Absylonia, upgrade the Scythean into a Carnivean and add a shepherd. This, however, doesn't seem as interesting, since his upkeep spell does render the scythean a veritable monstrosity that will just tear things up. But, again, it's that fury management that I am somewhat concerned about. Currently, I can't max all three beasts in one round and expect to come out the next without at least one failed Threshhold.
4. I could downgrade the Angelius into something else in order to free up even more points, not sure what, not sure FOR what, but it would be a possibillity.
And there we go, two lists, both fairly agressive, fairly straightforward, and where the warlock CAN lay the smackdown on the enemy should she need to.
Now, other than these lists, I have been contemplating a list tailored to fit units, rather than trying to fit them into a list. What are people's suggestions for a list that would include Anyssa, two Deathstalkers, and the Blackfrost Shard? That's 14 points, if I add a strider unit to that, we're up to 20. pLylyth, pVayl, and Rhyas all have a 6 point beast allocation, so, assuming one of them, that leaves 21 points for Warbeasts. Which warcaster? What warbeasts? Any thoughts and/or ideas on that?
Sincerely, Neknoh.

Hello again. Didn't think I vanished did you?
Now, with that list of "model's I'd like to field" at the bottom, I think I've managed to churn something out that should have a somewhat interesting playstyle and should be all in all fun to try and assassinate with:
pVayl -6
Ravagore 10
Ravagore 10
Scythean 9
Blackfrost Shard 5
Annyssa Ryvaal 4
2x Spell Martyr 2
Shepherd 1
There's something about this list that doesn't feel 100% right, I like it, I like it a lot. But it feels as if I lack anti-punch tech, something to deal with the really big things, but I have multiple debuffs for that as well as a Scythean, and Ravagores aren't soft in combat either.
Basically, this list is all about managing to debuff the enemy caster or heavies and then landing ravagore blasts on top of them. Fairly straight forward, and eyeless sight should bypass stealth, no?
What I am contemplating at the moment is to replace the Scythean with either an Angelius, a Seraph or two Raeks. If I do go down one point because of this, one spell martyr goes out and those two points are then used to buy a Deathstalker.
I have been contemplating putting in a Forsaken in the current list by removing the Shepherd and one Spell Martyr, it nets me a tool to deal with a fury'd up beast, or a focus camped caster. And yes, I know the list does not have a shredder, and that Tenacity is very, very useful, but I just don't have the points for it, and I'd much preffer adding a deathstalker if I free two points up so that I can deal with solos quicker without needing ravagore blasts for them.
But in short, I arc debuffs/angle BFS into enemy caster, drop ravagores on top. I can also go for enemy unit commanders and boost to hit, hoping for crits and thereby stopping them issuing orders. Lowering def on warbeasts and units will ALSO be a very fun way of using Ravagores.
Heck, I might simply go three Ravagores instead of scythean and extra spell martyr. JUST to get even more blasts out there.
