I'm thinking about starting up a Ravenwing army, and I'm working on a list, but I'm having trouble deciding how to run the speeders. First, how many should I take? Next, I know that in objective games, single speeders are far superior to units, but if killpoints are involved I might get myself into trouble if I have 5 single speeders and three single attack bikes running around. How do you guys suggest I organize my speeders? Units, singles, or a mix of both?

They really have to be singles. You can only have three typhoons and the scoring speeders are singletons.

You could go without and just take 3 man bike squads and attack bikes.
Or All bikes and 3 typhoons.
Or taking a one or a few 6 man squads with a scoring speeder.

I think I favour 1 scoring speeder, 1 6 bike squad with banner and apoth., 3 typhoons, then 3 man squads with attack bikes.

Don't you just pretty much auto-lose killpoint games with an army like that?

Not really, having a large number of kill points isn't anywhere near as bad as some people make it out to be. Each Ravenwing unit is frustratingly small, which means heavy hitting units are often wasting their firepower on them (overkill) but are still durable enough against small arms fire to be annoying. The main thing is that because you have so many units you can kill things more efficiently, I've faced Ravenwing lists which had 20+ Meltas and it just walks through vehicles since you never have to fire more shots that you need to to disable vehicles.
