I always liked the idea of incorporating all three sides of a dark angels army. I'm going for a semi-competitive take-all-comers list. I recently came back to 40k after taking a break for a few years. I mostly played 3rd ed and I played a little 4th. 5th ed really seems to have made the game a new animal from what I remember.

The basic idea is I'd use the bikes to deep strike two termie squads turn one, then keep the bikes alive long enough the deep strike the last termie squad. after that, the bikes will be used to harass vehicles and heavy armored units. With the tac squads, I can use the drop pods to put them on or near objectives (DA drop pods don't have drop pod assault, hurray for an old codex!). I prefer preds over vindis because they don't become useless after a weapon destroyed roll.

The only weakness that I can really see is only having three bikes. Also, the plasma pistols might be a waste.

Any suggestions for improvement? Also, any suggestions to trim the list down to 1750? I'm having a hard time figuring out what to cut.

Hmmm, you are really close to making a pretty standard deathwing army here actually, all you would have to do is drop the tac squads.

That said it looks pretty solid imo, but I dont like the plasma pistol in the tac squads, but thats your call.

Also, Belial is 130 points, not 185.

How about reducing it to 5 men in a drop pod with a melta, that nearly saves you the points?

If you want 10 man tactical squads then get rhinos.

Better still drop them down to 5 and get lasbacks.

I based it off other deathwing lists I saw, but I really like how the PA dark angels look, so I wanted to add some of them too. Part of me feels the same about the plama pistols in the tac squads, but they've come in handy on occasions in the past and I'm not sure what I would do with the extra 30 points I'd have. Maybe upgrade to my power weapons to power fists? Also, I accounted for the standard and the apothecary in Belial's points, since it's under his entry.

those are some good ideas. I was able to drop it down to 1750 by knocking the squads down to 5, dropping all the plasma pistols and one of the preds then putting the tac squads in lasbacks

I like this list as it is different from the norm.

I do have some input though. First is with the Temrinators. I really don't think you need CF's on them. if you play against alot of LR's then maybe its worth it. Next is the bikes. You really shoukld drop the PLAsm pistol and the Bombs from the Sgt. Also you should drop the meltas fromt he bikes. I believe plasmaguns are a better fit for them. The problem with meltas is you have to get so close to them to use. After that you are in assault range and that is a bad place for bikes to be.You are also over by 15 points with the bike sqaud. Only having 3 bikes they will not last long enough to help tport the terminators. Other then those I think it couls eb an interesting list. I am not sure but I think if you are using the Marines just to drop on objectives. You could do with just one sqaud and use those points elsewhere. Just some ideas for you.

thanks for the advice balsak_da_mighty. The plasma guns are definitely a good idea. The CFs are there pretty much for insurance in case any walkers decide to get in my way. I used to play daemonhunters and there were a few times my GKs got tied up in combat with them. I understand the THs should be able to handle them, but CFs will ensure it happens quickly. LRs were my next concern after walkers. I feel the bikes are a bit pricey for 6, and if I make smart use of cover I should be able to get them to last until all the termies are on the board. I'll play test it a bit and if I feel that they aren't lasting long enough, I'll drop the second tac squad and add more bikes. While the primary purpose for the tac squads is capturing objectives, They're also there for flexibility. While not great at any one thing, tac squads are good at a lot. Again, if after play testing I find that they're just wasting points, I'll tweak my list some more. I really appreciate your input though, you definitely had some solid advice.

I've double and triple checked my numbers and I keep getting the same number for the bike squads. Can someone check this to make sure my math isn't screwy?

My fault on the points. I was forgetting your PW. You are good on points there. Sorry for that.

My thing is I don't see 3 bikes being able to survive. Especially if the other player knows what they are there for. Me personally I like to take Sammael as well so the can have an Apothacary with them to give them FNP when those plasmas over heat. It also helps there survival rate a bit. I do understadn your concern though. So yes Play testing is always the best imput that you can recieve.

Anyways good luck with your list. I love DW and the Dark Angels period.
