Anybody have both versions, the old version one from 20 years ago, as the release from last year (two years ago?) ?

Are the rules the same?

I'm not asking for the rules (violating GW's IP), but I simply want to know if I arrange to play someone, if we can avoid rules discrepancies.

Somewhere in south-central England.

The latest edition is a kind of mash-up of 1st and 2nd editions.

The main rules are the same as 1st edition but there are some special things added for the new special figures with swords and space magic, etc.

There are no Genestealers with guns.

If you know the 1st edition rules you should easily adapt to the 3rd edition.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

I found the "Genestealer" expansion's psycker powers a wee bit complicated and would like to just go with basic rules from the main game, so yeah, I'm gonna skip using the hybrid models.

With a long winter break ahead, I can prolly get a few regular players going for a few games, possibly even completing one of the 'campaign' scenarios.

Thanks, KK.

I have 1st and 2nd edition, and my club has the 3rd ed set (minus the minis - one of our semi-regulars bought the game JUST for them and donated the rest to us).

It's the best bits of 1st ed (rules, but simplified down) with the best bits of 2nd (tiles).

Missions for 1st work with the rules for 3rd.

It's easy to tell which version is which.

1st ed had a green tint to the tiles. 2nd ed had more of a blue tint and more detail on the tiles. 3rd ed had a low relief surface with extra details and were twice as thick as the previous two set tiles.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
