What do I need to make an assault marine...an assault marine. I'm going to have right at 30 marines 20 of them being tactical marines. I know I need the jumpbacks but what else makes them assault marines I have found places to order the bits but what entails a jump assault marine other than his jump pack...

usually they have a harness torso, aside from that usually whatever is in the wargear/upgrade description is what makes them what they are

they need jump packs, bolt pistols, and chainswords.

I have the tac squads and there are 20 of them and I have a true 10 assault marines plus 10 DC does the death company have any special markings that I couldn't use them as assault marines? Then I could keep some tac marines. I dunno if tac marines are even worh it.

Assault squads can forego the jump packs and all pile into a rhino for a lift; so all you need is normal marines armed with chainswords and bolt pistols.

Hmm, I have two rhinos sono but I hate to not give the guys with jump packs a decent lift >.>

A silly question....Do you have the codex? Most of these questions are answered in the book.

Todo it was more of a conversion question I suppose. I purchased two battleforces and was wondering more for the aestethic value than the actual weapon loadout. Like do they have to have the harness chest and do the wounds of sanguiniius matter if I use my DC and if I use tac marines and just purchase the jump packs and the arms needed would they be acceptable.

Only the most pedantic gamer would pick up on the lack of harness torsos and if you like the look go for it. They are your models after all.
Hey you can always say that they are later model packs that don't require a harness.

I do know what you mean on the Jet packs; I'm currently painting up 2500pts of infantry only Raven Guard. I loved doing the Vanguard Vets so much I went out and bought another squad of them.

Well, I was happy with the tac sqauds til I realized it's 30 assault squad or bust XD and then I started looking at HQ'S and realized I need a jump army with a bunch of armor to get them there. But, I have all these types of marines I don't need and the ability to make them assault marines wouldn't upset me in the least and would more than likely save me money.

Jump packs, bolt pistol arms, chainsword arms. For vanilla marines, one in every 5 can swap for a flamer (I think) or plasma pistol. The Sarge has a variety of different weapons available to him. Not so sure on the loadout for BA's though - might be the same.

If you've got a bunch of bodies and just need the arms, try some bits sites or ebay auctions. Assault marines usually have the "running" legs as opposed to the wider stance of the tactical marines, but that doesn't matter that much.

I found one with the wargaming store and they're 9$ a piece but I think I'm going to run my DC guys as assault and then buy ten more assault squad and I should be sitting pretty =)

Ah! Gotcha! In that case, any marine with a close combat weapon, bolt pistol and jump pack can be an assault marine. Anyone that gives you crap about not having the harnesses is a dipstick not worthy of dealing with.

I'm actually going to run 10 dc with lemartes and a DC furioso inside a storm raven =) I think them dealing with that 2 baal preds 20 tac marines with transports and mephiston plus a few more assault dante and sanguinary guard will have one hell of a time =)
