I have a gaming tournament on Saturday, and would like to run a decent IG list. What do you guys think?

485th Combined Inquisitorial Taskforce

“Maverick” Leman Russ Demolisher- 165pts

“Crusader Rex” Leman Russ Battle Tank- 150pts

“Teutonic and Templar” x2 Medusa Battery w/ Bastion Breacher shells- 280pts

Knight-Commander Ulrich Ranseur’s Command Squad 180pts
-Counts as Ursaker Creed
- x1 Astropath

Minister Calthazar, Priest, shotgun 50pts

Minister Ruspiro, Priest, shotgun 50pts

Storm Trooper Squad Retribution x5 stormtroopers, x2 melta-guns 105pts

Storm Trooper Squad Vengeance x5 stormtroopers, x2 melta-guns 105pts

Platoon 1 “Spectre Legion”-365pts

Command Platoon-
Counts as Al’ahrem
X1 Meltaguns

Combined Squad-
X30 Guardsmen
X3 Sergeants w/power weapons
X1 Commissar w/power weapon
X3 meltaguns

Special Weapons Squad 55pts
X2 flamers
X1 meltagun

Platoon 2 “Blade Legion- 295

Command Platoon
-x1 Grenade Launchers

Combined Squad-
X30 Guardsmen
X3 Sergeants w/power weapons
X1 Commissar w/power weapon
X3 meltaguns

Special Weapons Squad 55pts
X2 flamers
X1 meltagun

Basically, the idea is to Outflank Al'ahrem's combined squad to hit wherever they are needed. The astropath will make sure that they, and the deep-striking storm-troopers, will come in when I need them to. The Special Weapons squads act as vanguards, to soften up hordes and power-armored opponents, and to hold objectives while the combined squads move on the attack. Creed will allow either a troops squad to move to grab an early objective or a tank to get him within firing distance first turn.

The Priests will stay out of combat and simply give their bonus, while the command squads give commands where needed.

Can it work Dakka?

Oklahoma City, Ok.

I wouldn't mix-n-match Special weapons in the SWS squads.
I'd fill out the CCS/PCS' with more weapons each.
In keeping with your Outflanking theme, i'd use the points
you have left by dropping the Priests and getting weapons to get
a Scout Sentinel or 2. I really don't see how the Priests will help. but
that's just me.

The Priests allow my men to reroll to hit rolls on a turn they charge, which can be pretty useful.

I'd maybe drop the SWS and spend the points on special weapons for the CCS. Seems a shame to waste that BS4.

Your CCS and 'Blade' squad are off... 10pts and 5pts respectivily.

Read the rules concerning ICs in Assault carefully (pg 49 BRB, bottom left paragraph). It is actually very hard to keep them out of close combat due to those rules...and if they do not get in base to base, they can't attack but they can still be attacked if within 2" of a enemy fig. You now have to decide if they are worth the points or not.

You really have no long range AT, as your Medusas still fire a small blast marker and thus use the scatter dice to hit instead of a normal attack with their BS 3 (so instead of a 50% chance to hit your down to a 33% chance). If you do scatter, if the center hold of the marker is not on the vehicle your attack is half strength (str 5) versus the armor value your hitting on, but hey, you still get the 2d6 armor pen roll. If you fire indirect, you lose the ability to reduce the scatter with your BS 3, but it is risky to direct fire as the vehicle is now exposed to fire.

With those 280pts, you could have 2 Vendettas or 2 LC HWSs and a naked Lord Commissar to hang out with them to make use of his 'Aura of Discipline'. With Creed, I would make use of the HWSs. Another option is to upgrade the LRBT to a Demolisher and get a 3rd Demolisher and Outflank it via Creed's 'Tactical Genius' ability. This can give you 2 Demolishers and the base blob moving up turn 1.

To pile on more on the Medusas, consider the fact your army is designed to get into close combat with your opponent and your fielding scatterable artillery, much less the Demolisher and stock LRBT (which should be a second Demolisher anyways). As long as your careful and don't kill your own stuff for your opponent by scattering into it, but I wouldn't risk it and would replace it with the direct fire stuff I suggested.

Drop the SWSs to fill up those empty special weapon slots in your CCS and your two PCSs. Flamers/Melta for the PCSs and plasma or meltas for the CCS. If you want Creed static, consider a LC and Camo Cloaks (and by default, 2x Plasma guns for the last two slots). If you want the CCS mobile, 4x Plasma guns and carapace might be an option. Use any extra points to give your blob sergeants Melta bombs, as you can't afford them to be tied up by a walker.

I would also use Creed's 'Tactical Genius' ability on your/a Demolisher. If you have enough points, look at Marbro for a surgical strike demo charge for 65pts.

Good luck and I hope this has given you some food for thought.

I have always found that my blob squads work best supporting each other. one will get hit, and the other will either help the in the combat, or shore up a flank so multiple other squads dont get in and finish off the first squad. so personally i would recommend outflanking both squads together and usuing them as a pair. secondly,
al rahem says his platoon must outflank. it does not give the scouts or any usrs... thus since the priest is not technically part of the platoon, he cannot come with them. (yeah, i got nailed with that one mid-tourney)

Oh yeah... good point Skronk! Since I normally don't use Priests, I have never bothered making sure they could work with a Outflanking list.

It is also something to note that Creed's 'Tactical Genius' can't make a second platoon outflank, just a single unit (like the blob Skonk suggested). I have made lists like that, but I like having a 3rd blob holding the middle to defend the HWSs and Creed.
