My friend wants to convert some Tomb Blades for his necron update. His plan is to use a catacomb command barge as a night scythe and use leftovers from that as tomb blade pilots. He needs help with the bikes themselves though. Any thoughts?

OOP destroyers / silicon & resin are the route I took.

What about the BFG necron ships, he asked how big are those and are they metal or plastic?

They're metal and quite small, the medium sized ones are abit taller than a warrior.

Ok, and what about heavily modified sky boards from the hellion kit?

Depending on how close to the artwork you want to be there have been several attempts/ideas at making them.

Either using the damaged Necrons from the ark with extended spine and craft some kind of body for the jet bike.

Using the pilot/gunner parts of the barges and attaching engines and a gun.

Or using lychguard shields as surf boards, ignoring the artwork and going for a silver surfer kind tomb blade.

After a couple of incredibly botched attempts I settles on waiting for wave 2 to be released.

Command Barge is far too small for a Night Scythe IMO. Think more valkyrie sized.

For Tomb Blades, I would just convert up some destroyers or use the old OOP destroyer kits (as they are surely what Tomb Blades are based on)

I made myself some custom Tomb Blades a few days after the Necrons came out I used extra Command barge, Immortal, Lynchguard and Ghost ark bits.

Not exactly Perfect but I am glad with how they turned out.

Hmm... in the codex they sort've looked a bit like a Dark Eldar reaver combined with those speeders from Star Wars. But the conversion looks good all the same.

Official tombblades will be released before he has his conversions done (March).
Puppet Wars will soon release alternative models looking different.

it seems like a good idea, but he would have to dedicate the time to do a lengthy conversion if he hopes to finish before the model comes out
