Hey guys, looking for some advice on my list as I have a tournament coming up in early January and I need to give my list in soon so. Here it goes:

HQ

ccs- 2x melta guns, voxcaster

Elites

5 man ratling squad

Troops
Platoon 1

pcs

infantry squad- Plasma gun, autocannon, voxcaster, commissar w/powersword
infantry squad- plasma gun, autocannon, voxcaster

Hws- 3x lascannons

Platoon 2

pcs

Infantry squad-Plasmagun, autocannon, voxcaster,commissar w/powersword
Infantry squad-Plasmagun, autocannon, voxcaster

Heavy support

Leman russ battle tank- lascannon
Leman russ battle tank- lascannon

Basilisk- enclosed crew compartment
Basilisk- enclosed crew compartment

This is only 1310 points, so I'm hoping you guys can help me with what else to put in this list. And could also help me with altering mistakes within the list. This list will need to be able to take any army on as there is 50 players in this tournament(i'm in the juniors bit so I'm only going to be on a leaderboard on 7 people or so, but i'm still vs'ing the adults.)

I'm thinking about putting creed in the ccs squad and then putting it into a chimera, would that work?

Thanks for any help given.

If you run foot platoons those infantry squads need to be combined - and even then 20 man blobs are quite small. I think 30 man squads are better. You only then need 1 commissar and 1 vox (if you do indeed take them) per blob.

PCS need to fill their special weapon slots and if you don't take voxes here then don't bother at all - pretty much an all or nothing.

Another HWS would not go amiss either.

1,500 is a squeeze for Creed, but you can take a Lord Commissar to babysit the HWS. Give him a camo cloak and they get stealth as well.

Do you think I should drop one fo the russes? so I can have another hws and then take a lordsommissar, but what heavy weapon should I take in the hws?

HWSs should be either ACs or LCs. LCs for AV 12+ and ACs for AV 12 or less and everything else (troops, MCs, ect). Anything else is either to limited (HBs and Mortars are only good against infantry) or to expensive for a single shot at BS 3 (ML) that ends up firing on the same things a AC would be shooting at (AV 12 or less and everything else).

Drop the LCs off the LRBTs at least, as a single shot at a vehicle at BS 3 is iffy and kinda wastes the battle cannon which should be shooting at infantry anyways due to the scatter. LRBTs are attacking vehicles, as a LRBT that doesn't move is a dead LRBT. If your doing a gunline list, I would honestly consider dropping them. Replace one with two hydras and if you do keep one, consider outflanking it via Dreed's 'Tactical Genius'. You can also look at upgrading them to Executioners or Demolishers if you do keep them. I am not sold on the Basilisks, but I think that is more a personal choice. I would rather have a Manticore or two for your blobs to bubble wrap.

I would drop the Ratlings. If you really want snipers, give a PCS 4x Sniper Rifles. Just remember Sniper Rifles are only effective against MCs or low leadership troops. For a camping PCS, a AC and 2x Sniper Rifles give you a anti-Vehicle (troop transport popper) option for the unit if there are no MCs. Remember 'Bring it Down!' works against vehicles and MCs and makes the unit twin linked.

I love Creed myself, but the question you have to ask is if you think you will issue 4+ Orders a turn. If you do not think you will issue 4 Orders a turn, don't bother with Creed. I like Creed static, so I like to give the CCS a LC and 2x Plasma guns with Camo Cloaks. If you want to keep the CCS mobile, go 4x Melta or Plasma guns... I would even consider Carapace armor just to give them a save for 'Gets Hot!' at least. I rather have the 3+ cover save myself, but for an attacking list I can understand making him mobile. If you use Creed's 'Tactical Genius' ability and get two other Outflankers/Deep strikers, look at getting a Astropath. If anything, I would also look at a Officer of the Fleet. Drop the Vox though... Commissars in the blobs and the Lord Commissar for the HWSs (read his 'Aura of Discipline) should make the Leadership high enough for Orders as well as for other morale tests to keep them around.

Make sure you give your PIS sergeants melta bombs to give them some form of protection against a walker in close combat. If a MC shows up, you /have/ to shoot it before it gets in close combat if it is T 7+. I agree with the blobbing and the dropping of the voxs. I would also look at 30 man blobs or even a 3rd blob of 20 men. I would drop the plasma guns in the blobs due to the BS 3 and just stick with melta guns for anti-vehicle and anti-terminator/power armor defence. The AC is a good choice for BS 3 troops, as it gives you a good chance to hit with at least 1 shot of the 2.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Here is something for you to consider, using the core of your lists and the Basilisks...

CCS - 210pts
LC, 2x Plasma guns, Camo Cloaks, Creed

Lord Commissar - 85pts
Camo Cloak, Melta bomb

PCS - 50pts
AC, 2x Sniper Rifles

PIS - 130pts (blob 1)
Commissar, 2x PW, Melta gun, AC, Melta bomb

PIS - 85pts (blob 1)
PW, Melta gun, AC, Melta bomb

PCS - 50pts
AC, 2x Sniper Rifles

PIS - 130pts (blob 2)
Commissar, 2x PW, Melta gun, AC, Melta bomb

PIS - 85pts (blob 2)
PW, Melta gun, AC, Melta bomb

LC HWS - 105pts
3x LCs

LC HWS - 105pts
3x LCs

Vets - 185pts
LC, 3x Plasma guns, PW, Plasma Pistol, Sentries

Basilisks - 140pts
Enclosed crew compartments

Basilisks - 140pts
Enclosed crew compartments

1500pts

Put your Vets, CCS, PCSs, HWSs, and Lord Commissar in the middle of your zone to hold it. Put your Basilisks and blobs in the corners. Hunker down in as much cover as possible and issue Orders to the units that need them for vehicles and MCs. The blobs if they are out of Order range is fine, as 4 AC shots should hit and hopefully pop a transport or put some damage on infantry. Having a PCS or your vets close to the Lord to be in his Aura of Discipline (only need 1 guy in range) isn't a bad thing. Just make sure the Vets are the front line as you can fire though your own troops fine. Put Creed right behind them and as close to the center as possible to allow him to cover the most area.

Well that list looks very good but I lack that many Lascannons and don't plan on spending any more money on 40k unless it's really cheap and unpainted. But I made another list that I think is an improvement from my last list, here it is:

HQ

company command squad- creed,2x melta guns, voxcaster , w/chimera w/extra armour, storm bolter

Techpriest enginseer
Elites

5 man ratling squad

Troops
Platoon 1

platoon command squad, voxcaster

infantry squad- Plasma gun, autocannon, voxcaster, commissar w/powersword
infantry squad- plasma gun, autocannon,
infantry squad- Plasma gun, autocannon, voxcaster
infantry squad- Plasma gun, autocannon,

Heavy weapon squad- 3x lascannons

Platoon 2

platoon command squad, voxcaster

Infantry squad-grenade launcher, autocannon, voxcaster,commissar w/powersword
Infantry squad-grenade launcher, autocannon,

Heavy support

Leman russ battle tank- lascannon

Basilisk- enclosed crew compartment
Basilisk- enclosed crew compartment
1500

Well I'm gonna use 3 20 man blobs here, and the reason I put the lascannon on the lrbt is that when I come up against a full mechanized army( there was a guy at the last tournament he had 6 russes and 3 vendettas, fething scary gak) I have something else to his tanks with. I am just extremely lucky with my scatter dice and it 80% of the time it's a direct( only had one game where it never hit and I have 3 games a week). Also I only need to win around 3 matches out of five to win the juniors as the guys I play with aren't the best players. But I kept the ratlings as there is quite a few mc at the tournaments I go to, including a lot of Dreadknights, Which have a massive impact on everything.

Can't depend on luck, as sooner or later your dice will crap out.

I will stick with what I said, even if you have limited models.
