I stumbled upon this through quite a convoluted and random set of links and coincidences.

It seems there was a little sponsored Movember group going on in the GW studio this year, and they managed to raise a fair amount (£2k). Jes Goodwin has a Movember page, and in his 'group' is Robin Cruddace, Phil Kelly, Karl and Stefan Kopinski and more.

What a nice idea. However, I would have thought that if they had made it a public group, and told gamers about it, they could have raised a LOT more...

This is great news... I carry a 'tache 24/7 anyway. Makes me feel like Magnum PI!

Sadly that made me collecting for Movember kind of silly, but hats off to all that did it. Good going and a great cause....

It really is too bad that they did not publicise this. It would have helped a good cause and we all know GW needs good press despite the fact that they might not think so.

At first I was like "why does he keep spelling November wrong?". I had never heard of Movember. Its sorta like a British no-shave-November. That is cool. You're right. They should have publicized this. Warhammer has a large, tight knight, and surprisingly loyal fan base. We as a community could have really brought it home on this one.

I never thought I would see Phil Kelly with a biker moustache.

Agreed. We may have raised as much, if not more again than Jes etc..

Oh well, maybe next year!

This looks more like a group of mates having a charity comp rather than a company thing.

Informal event or not, this seems like it should have been given more attention. Raising awareness is the priority and improving goodwill towards GW itself isn't a bad side effect either, especially after this past year (worst PR year or on par with one or two other awful years of the past 15 or so).

It's an Australian thing, actually. It's become popular in the UK over the last couple of years. I didn't realise it wasn't well known in the US.

I agree, I think this was just a little fun thing between workmates, but as PraetorDave says above, they could really utilise the fact that they have a huge, loyal fanbase of (mainly) men, raise a shedload of cash, and give themselves some great publicity to boot.

Me too. I spend November with everyone assuming I'm raising money for charity, and then December with everyone asking if I chose to 'keep it'. Bah.

Movember's big in Australia, too.

GW doesn't tell the public about anything early...

Lots of businesses do Movember here internally and raise money amongst friends, co-workers and family. It's not something they really advertise that they're doing outside of the company.

I'm a really big believer in Movember, (men's depression and prostate cancer) and our female equivalent, Pink Day (breast cancer).
