Are they available (legally) anywhere to download-even in a summary form- or do I really have to get the back issue of WD?

They've said they will go online a couple of months after the white dwarf release, but really, the new book is out next month and the rules will be in that.

Just buy the new army book next month.

I kind of thought people would suggest waiting, but it was just idle curiosity really. I have infrered that they are a Hero choice now, rather than rare, and as such can't be taken in units. Also they have different powers. The GW site lists both, so I was really wondering if one could take then as either a Hero OR an Rare... Thanks anyhow

You can take as either, or both if you wanted.

And iirc the rules for them are the same as heroes or units.

Army Builder has them updated to be taken as characters and has the prices for them.

If you look at the GW site at Wraiths, for example, the "Character" Wraith has Chill Grasp, whereas the "normal" one doesn't..

Well army builder has the rules for that ability, so if you need it just PM me as I can't post it in a thread.

It's been a while since I read the white dwarf additions, but I think the hero wraiths and banshees get an additional wound. They cost more than the unit versions as well.

they do have a higher individual cost.

Cairn Wraith stats are the same, hero costs 60 each while a rare unit of them cost 50 each with a min size of 3. The Hero has the ability Chill Grasp.

The Banshee stats are the same, with the unit upgrade costing 75 total and the hero costing 95, both have the same ability, Ghostly Howl.
