Subject: Dark Eldar Megaforce: A Good Start?

Been Around the Block

After a long hiatus from the game, I'm currently working on assembling and fully painting a Necron army, but I've recently become infatuated with the Dark Eldar after picking up their codex. It seems like there are a variety of viable army builds, good fluff, and some great models, so I'm thinking of picking up some DE for once my Necrons are complete.
I get a discount at my FLGS, so after sales tax and everything I could walk out the door with one of the recent Megaforce box sets for $207 or so. My question is would the Megaforce make a good core for a new Dark Eldar army or is it mostly useless junk? I've read the tactica articles on this site, and not everything in the box seems to be well loved.
Thanks in advance.

It has some really clutch stuff and some losers. Depending on the list you want to build, it could be great or gak

I would say its a good buy since the Reavers are a fun unit and so are the scourges. Overall I'd say its worth it. You may or may not use everything inside though especially 20 Wyches. I'd probably only use 10.

Even if you only used some of the vehicles and squads and ebayed the rest, you'd probably still be saving a boatload of money.
I don't know much about the DE, but I've been thinking the same about the SM Megaforce, with what I'd use, I'd still save money, and may even be able to make enough to buy some stuff that isn't in it that I want.

Depending on how big an army you want, you could end up using all of it

A lot of people think it should have more warriors and fewer witches, some people are of the opposite opinion. It has a good built in savings and if you're getting a discount on top of that it's almost a steal. Buy it and trade out the parts you don't use and you'll be golden.

Yep. They've all sold out in warehouses in Britain, and I've only seen one left in all of the Gaming Stores I go to.

Thanks for the input everyone. I decided to go ahead and get it. I picked up the megaforce from my FLGS on the way home from work. It cost $205 after everything was said and done. It's a nice Christmas present to myself, I think
