Hey guys does anyone know of any salamanders turning to chaos at any point in the 40k universe?

The Dragon Warriors are a chaos Warband thatfeatures some Salamanders.
They appear in the Salamanders book series.

just about every chapter will have had some members fall the chaos at some point.

Salamanders have less then usual though

Because they're a relatively small chapter, probably.

Ya I don't think it is a common occurrence

They also seem to be very motivated.
Perhaps it's that they fight to protect the people of the Imperium rather than the Imperium itself...

I also imagine that the Salamanders probably have more resentment than normal toward the traitor legion, even moreso than the other chapters, since the Salamanders got the gak kicked out of them so badly by the traitors in the Horus Heresy that they basically had to sit the war out. From what I understand they barely had enough men to keep the chapter going.

That sounds like a good reason to be especially hateful toward Chaos. And as also noted, they're a lot more philanthropic than most other chapters.

Iron Hands and Raven Guard were more messed up by it than the Salamanders were as well...
Iron Hands lost their best company and their primarch.
Raven Guard losses forced Corax to do that whole cloning milarky which went sideways something awful... and then he rinsed them and left...

In the Skull Harvest, by Graham Mcneil, Honsou goes to meet with Huron Blakheart and amongst his posse he sees a Salamander amongst them.

I think it has more to do with their idealism and the promethean cult.

The Salmanders are often noted as having difficulty recovering their strength after conflicts and certainly after the novels they are gong need some time.

It might also have something to do with how they gain new Marines - they are harsher than some Chapters with their aspirants - either you die or you become a Marine. Many Chapters make failed aspirants into serfs.

They also draw on quite a small population.

Due to the Horus Heresy, more recent conflicts, and recruit income, the Salamanders have about 8 companies.

They actually are smaller, about 800 marines at full strength. They also have no known/confirmed successor chapters because of this.


They got hit hard by Isstavan and never really recovered. The size is also due to their recruitment methods which are slower then others.
