Hello Dakka!

Through all the hooplah over broken Grey Knights and questionable allowances of Forge World models, (along with all the other holiday calamities!) I totally forgot to post this until today, so please forgive the lateness of this notice. Without any more prattle...

Our next Warhammer Fantasy Battle tournament is coming up this weekend on Saturday!

Scenarios will be "from the book" with some minor special rules here and there to spice things up. We will be using an 'Ard Boyz style Massacre-Major-Minor-Draw scoring setup. Tiebreakers will be scenario bonus points first, followed by strength of schedule, followed by darts competition, followed by deadlift challenge. In the case of an odd number of players, one player per round will get the bye, which will count as a Major victory with no bonuses.

Players will score their opponents on Sportsmanship, Army Composition, and Painting, with a single vote each for Best Painted and Best Sportsman. Painting and Sportsmanship are scored separately from Battle Points for their respective prizes. Composition scoring directly affects Battle Points; a low composition score will result in a Battle Point reduction for the game in question.

Armies will be built to the 2500 point level using the standard army construction rules. Special Characters are not allowed. Players must have at least three legible copies of their army list, either written or printed. One is to be provided to the judge, one for player reference, and one for opponent verification. Lists are not required to be shown to opponents during the game with the exception that when a 'secret' element of the army, or the existence of a certain piece of wargear or magic item, is declared, an opponent can request to see the relevant section of a player's army list to verify.

Armies must be WYSIWYG and comprised primarily of Games Workshop models from the relevant army book. Exceptions are allowed for competent conversion work, if you aren't sure about a piece please contact me so I can take a look at it and decide whether to allow it or not.

I will be keeping strict watch of the round times during the event, and I will be walking around the tables during games to help keep people on track. Games that do not go for a minimum of four full turns will not be scored and count as a loss for both players. Each tournament round will be two hours, fifteen minutes each (sorry Yak! ).

Prizes will depend on the number of players involved; more players equals bigger prizes. The top prize goes to the player with the highest battle points. Second place goes to the player with the best-painted army, and third place goes to the best sportsman.

For the tournament there is a $10 entry (sorry, no store purchase on this one, all the entries go straight into the prize pool!) to play. The doors will be open early for players to come in and get set up. I'd want to kick this one off as close to 10:00am as possible so we don't go too long.

The schedule will stick as closely as possible to the following:

8:30ish - 9:30 - Show up early, have donuts with Travis (B&C donuts on Alta Dena and Foothill is particularly good for those of you in a generous mood!), and talk shop
9:30am - 10:00 - check-in, sign-up, event preamble, pairings
10:00am - 12:15pm - Round 1
12:15 - 1:00 - Lunch
1:00 - 3:45 - Round 2
4:00 - 6:15 - Round 3
6:30 - Winners announced

Please let me know here or on the tournament thread on the Game Empire forums if you're planning on attending so I can get a rough idea what to expect. You can RSVP on Game Empire's facebook as well. If you RSVP on facebook, I'll give you a free candy and soda!

It all goes down at Game Empire Pasadena:

1795 E. Colorado Blvd.
Pasadena, CA. 91106

Make sure you note the new address!

I'm not sure if Gnoblars count as 'pain', but they'll probably have some Ogres with them, so...
