So I've committed to playing 40k again, joining a monthly league run by a friend. I'm going to get back to my Orks. I'm debating which of these two Ork Nobz based lists I will want to use. I am including a good shooting contingent since I feel that it is necessary.

PK, Cybork, Armor, Attack Squig

Big Mek - 95
KFF, Cybork

Elites
12 Lootas - 180
12 Lootas - 180
(conversely, can make it 3x8 Lootas, same points, thoughts?)

Troops
10 Nobz - 405
Cybork, Painboy, 3 PK, 3 Big Choppa, Waaagh Banner, Bosspole, Combi Rokkit x2

Battlewagon - 140
Deffrolla, Armor, Red Paint Job, Bording Plank, Big Shoota

19 Boyz - 154

3 Kannons - 69
3 Ammo Runts

List 2 - Nob Bikerz

Warboss - 150

Neither of these lists are very good to be honest. You don't need 10 nobs in either of the lists. You have to many points sunk into both of those squads. You really only need about 6-7 nobs at most. More like 6 IMHO.

Do you play aginst GK's. if so Nobs are a bad idea with them any ways. they will just Instant kill all of them before they even get to swing more then likely. Just keep you eye for that.

You might be better off taking 3 squads of boys in BW and maybe a small squad of Meganobs to get another BW. Also Rokkit Buggies/Trakks are pretty nice with a BW list. They can help with much needed AT and the help block assaults to the BW's. That is there weakness after all.

Just a couple of ideas there.

I can just about see what you are trying to do with the first list. Have agood shooty element then have enough points for 3 battlewagons. I would want more support for the shooty element and more support for the battlewagons however both are nearly there.

drop both boys to 19 so the kff goes in one and the warboss with the other. Otherwise the nob wagon is too huge a target, though to be fair you only have three targets.
As has been suggested the nobs are too rich, drop them down to a smaller number.

Rocket buggies would be good, or even more lootas with the nob points.

2nd list has three elements all of which are too weak to be truly scary.

The first list I kinda see what you want the second list makes no sense to me at all. I might be ignorant, because I don't play that high of point games yet, but I'm not sure what the point of it is. Could totally be my inexperience, it might be a bad list.

In the first list you can drop

the deffkopta.
the cybork on the KFF mek
probably don't need the Kannons tbh, they are sort of a crutch in your list.

If you are gonna take planks might as well take grabbin klaws in case you face skimmers imo- this would basically replace your kannons since your PK's/defrollas will pop av 12-14 and then the lootas can hit the AV10-11. Without the grabbin claws though you are gonna have a harder time.

Personally I would take the points from Defkopta and just buy more lootas and go 15x2. More lootas is just more goodness imo. and with that many lootas of them you could pop an AV 12/13 target if there was nothing left to shoot at. a lucky d3 turn would give you 90 s7 shots! Even at BS 2 that is going to pop av12.

You might try putting Kannons on your BW instead, they are BS 2 but you will have 3 of them for 20 points instead of 3 of them for 70 points(?) .

Personally I am not sure what the right number of nobs is at that point level since I havent played it yet, but the other guys here are reliable advice givers.

I really wouldn't recommend Nob bikers. They are good fun and in their day they were deadly but nowadays there are just too many counters to them.

I would drop your boys to 18 if your warboss is in eavy armor or 17 if he's in heavy. You don't want your boss of KFF to be left behind because you lack a spot in the wagon!

I prefer 3 squads of lootas if you don't need the elite slot. big squads are good but imo you want to be able to split fire.

Apart from that the list is ok to start with. Orks are generally a question of taste but once you play it you'll discover yourself how to make it better.

The Boss only takes up one spot unless he is in Megarmor and then he takes two. Same with the Mek. He only takes up one spot unless he too has Megarmor. If he does then he doesn't have a KFF of course.
