It seems to me that when people complain about the GKs, they are forgetting about the real most powerful codex of the last decade, this one:
The GK codex does not have:
-The ability to take 4 heavy supports.
-Psychic powers that make shooting impossible.
-Units with a 3+/5+ armor save and power weapon that can deepstrike and assault on the same turn.
-Monsterous creatures that can ignore armor and invulnerable saves.
- Multiple heavy weapon morphing units that could be taken in addition to four pie plates.
If we could adapt to deal with 3.5 chaos, we can deal with Grey Knights.

Interesting, I didn't know the codex was that good. I think I am going to pick this Codex up, and use it in non-tournament games until the new Legions codex comes
out next year. I would imagine it would work fine in 5th edition, but may need a few "tweaks" because of core rule changes.

How is this discussion for tournaments? You've been here long enough to know where threads belong.

That was a good codex, I played Thousand Sons with it and hardly ever lost. I think the only other armies that gave me a hard time were other CSM armies =).
Anyway, @ Aerethan, Sharkticon is spoofing the http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/417456.pagethread =/. I personally think both should be in dakka discussions but meh.

Both should be in 40k discussion.

I loved that Codex.
It was the Iron Warriors and Siren that ruined it for everyone.
I said it in the other thread but I will say it again...Orks in 2008 dominated tournament play and were much worse than Grey Knights are today. .

If you played back in second edition, you would know that the Tyranid book of that era basically made nearly everyone quit playing the game for a while. Catalyst = Game over. I would also argue that Craftworld Eldar would be a pretty good contender, too.

QFT.
Perhaps we need to remember that 5th edition has not been around for a Decade. Automatically Appended Next Post: Blackmoor wrote:I loved that Codex.

Yes, also QFT. I hated Mechdar in late 4th and Orks in early 5th. Automatically Appended Next Post: Aerethan wrote:Both should be in 40k discussion.
No MOD has moved them yet.
