I'm new to 40k and when I bought and assembled my first models I just put on what looked cool. My question is how strict are tournaments with wyswyg? I'm gaining a bigger intrest into tourney play and really don't wanna have to buy new models

Also with the same rule am I allowed to choose not to use something on my model? I loved beefing up my crisis suits when I got them

Thanks for any and all help

are you going to keep talking about it, or do something already?

AFAIK (based off others posts) most tourneys are very strict on WYSIWYG. Friendly play is a lot more lenient (generally).

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

1) Tournaments are generally strict on wysiwyg...

2) for upgrades only. As a general rule you dont have to try to git a BP, Bolter, Chainsword, Frag & Krak grenades on a Grey Hunter, but you would have to model the melta theyre carrying if you upgrade one of them

3) If you have something modelled but havent paid for it then it isnt wysiwyg, is it? If you are consistent in your over modelling (everything has a plasma rifle, but NOONE has paid for it) then you may get away with it, using "counts as"

It's simple really, there's no caveats.

What you see is what you get:
1) All upgrade wargear must be modelled correctly
2) All wargear modelled onto the model must be legal and paid for in the list.

It might take some remodelling but it's worth it for your opponents.

Ok sweet thanks for the help, new tau codex soon right haha? I'll most likely end up buying more eventually.

Also that kinda blows cause like 3 of my 7 have more than you can field on a model

are you going to keep talking about it, or do something already?
