So me and my buddy were arguing weither we thought Tomb Kings could really make a competeive army to take on the other top armies lists or if they would just get run over. It seems to be a fight to the death in this argument lol. So figured we should get some other opinions since it's at a stand still here xD

So what do you guys think? Can they? Or not?

There's no such thing as top tier.

TK won a really big tourney recently with a strategy of mass Khalinda flaming poison bows with monsters as support.

But I think part of that speaks to the fact that competitive play is a whole other beast and it's almost like...inbreeding. They make strategies to face each other and get so stilted and unusual that if someone comes with something out of the mainstream it has a chance to blow them away (or die horribly).

EDIT: the thread on it is here, but basic strat was instead of a block of bows 5 wide or 10 wide, it was like 40 wide and 2 deep. The mega spells are mostly plates or vortexes and won't hit more than a handful of archers. And because they are TK, nothing, from any source, modifies their BS.

I don't mean to nitpick here but It is actually that they cannot have any hit modifiers either positive or negative. Modifying BS is actually the only way to modify their to hit rolls, and that is the biggest thing that Khalinda does, she gives them bs 3 instead of 2. A little off topic but still relevant.

They are definitely one of the tougher of the new armies to field competitively. Not that it can't be done but they do still suffer from crumble too much in my opinion. The best way I've seen is large skeleton blocks with characters and magic back up. The monster lists work, until they run up against dwarves.
