What is the purpose of running the 2 sets of 5 Kabalite warriors in Raiders instead of Venoms? I assume that Duke is riding with the unit of 9, and Baron deployed with the hellions?

Hellions for 287 is a bit steep, since Hellions after all, are pretty crappy. In themselves they might look good at first glance, but compared to other things in the 'dex they're just sub-par.

you get dark lances instead of splinter cannons is why raiders over venoms. And if you have a comment how about we say why you think they're crappy or how to make it better not just they suck. What was the point of even putting that out there? That was honestly a waste of my time to read it.

Now back to my list. I thought about also maybe dropping one true born from each each of my elites and dropping the scourges to get another raider with 9 wyches plus a hekatrix upgrade plus a venom blade for the duke to run into cc with. Any ideas?

and yes you are correct the duke starts with the kabalites and baron with the hellions

They are assault troops who are slower and less protected than Wyches in a Raider (and are obligated to pay out 20 points in upgrades just to get plasma grenades). They are also easier to kill than Wyches in the assault. Also, did I mention slower, yeah a Fast Attack option slower than a Troop slot – cute.

Oh, but they also have anti-infantry firepower, firepower that’s weaker and has less range than just getting a Dakka Venom on the board with 5 Warriors and a Blaster inside of it.

Let’s not even dwell on the fact that both of those other units bring anti-tank to the field, something Hellions can’t do at all

A hellion is faster than a wych. 12 in over 6in. If that raider gets blown up (and they all do) now my wyches have to foot slog across the board and will die before they even engage anyone. The hellions are a distraction and can provide bubble wrapping as well as AI support. Also most people pause at having that many hellions out there and find it hard to deal with. I have plenty of AT, They have the baron so i don't have to spend anything on grenades. So if you don't have anything helpful to say shut your hole. Thanks

You really shouldn't come in here and ask for advice, and our thoughts on your list, and then beat down on someone else's opinion. I was saying there are plenty of other stuff in the codex that are far better than Hellions, but you seem to really like them so by all means use them. You don't have to be a douche to people with different opinions, discarding advice from people that have played both with and against large units of Hellions.

I play both SW and DE, and have for quite some time. With DE i would never field Hellions, especially not almost 300 points worth. They're just too easy to shoot down, and is exactly the reason i smile whenever i play my SW and go up against them.

But, if you like them, field them and enjoy them, just try to avoid being a douche to people trying to give you some advice.

If you are going to keep your Hellions, at least give them an Agoniser instead of a Power Weapon. This list does look like it'd benefit from some wyches, though!

OK sorry but you weren't offering advice you were just saying they sucked. Advice is hey man these goes don't work that well maybe you should try these. I originally asked if anyone thought that I should drop the scourges and 2 blasterborn to get some wyches but nobody seems to talk about that just they're dislike for hellions. I have had great success with the hellions so I am gonna keep them in. Also I was shaving points that's why I took the PW over the agonizer

If you go into the Article section and look for DE articles there is a nice selection of tactics and unit breakdowns. These articles do a really nice job of highlighting strengths and weaknesses of each and every selection.

I highly recommend spending an hour or two reading over them. They are extremely helpful, even if you don't agree with some of the points being made.

I also have a DE list up for help and hints atm. I used the criticisms to help me refine my list. After a good bit of editing I feel as though I wrote a strong list capable of taking on all opponents.

Thanks man I lurked around here for a while before I posted. Thanks for the advice I have read them. Like I said before the hellions have worked well for me in the past. I read ur list man looks good. More cc than I like but to each there own lol. Any advice on the scourges?

People seem to not care for them so much. I ended up cutting them from the 1850 list because I felt that their weaknesses were valid. The real issue with DE fast attack is, there really is something that can do the job better and for less points. Honestly though I am a noob to DE, and just getting ready to start playing again after a few years away from the tables.
