Hello to everyone!!

I'm new and It is a pleasure for me to write in this legendary forum!

First of all, I found this hobby thanks to a great friend and I'm play/painting since October '11!! I am building a 500 points army to play with my friend. He is playing IG, usually with chimeras and veterans, but He has more than 5000 points so np to build any list.

I'm reading a lot this forum, I learn so much things on last days and here is my competitive list:

- Assault Squad with Power fist and meltagun + Razorback with Lascannon and plasmagun.
- Assault Squad with Power fist and meltagun + Razorback with Lascannon and plasmagun.

380 points here.

I have no idea how to complete my army playing with IG. I was thinking about some heavy support like Predator or Devastators. maybe landspeeders or... I really don't know!

Thanks for all guys and sorry for my english, its not enough good yet dry.gif

Welcome and happy wargaming,

500 pt armies are a little strange. I guess you need 1 HQ and 2 Troops by the rules you are playing?
In which case maybe go for a librarian with maybe shield and lance, at 100 pts.

You'll find powerweapon and meltabombs better than a powerfist against imperial guard. You'll also find at higher point battles 5 man squads do better with less equipment for their cost.

IG can bring lots of guns at 500 pts where you'll never win a shoot out, so go close and charge them.
Or they'll bring meltas in chimeras in which case stay well back and shoot them at range.

Hope some of that makes sense and more importantly helps

I guess it depends on what your IG buddy takes, if you just tie up as many units as you can with AS and have those Razorbacks try to take out some armor it should clear up your friend to gunline. But as mentioned above, do you have to follow Force Organization Chart?

Thanks for the answers but i should told you some things:

- No HQ required.
- Tanks armour can't be superior to 34
- Can't play miniatures with 3 wounds or more.

My teammate will play some chimeras and veterans and some heavy support.

This will be my first list and my first tourny and I'm very lost right now

Well Hopefully it works out! Is that 34AV I'm assuming means combined AV of a single tank (as in no tanks with AV Over 12F-12S-10R, like a Land Raider or Leman Russ which would be my cheese suggestion haha) rather than something else. If your friend has it I would suggest some Hydras or if you guys wanna live dangerously try a Deathstrike Missile + Manticore spam from the IG and you should take a Whirlwind and just play an Artillery Gunline! hahaha (DO NOT actually do that)

But seriously, I reread the Codex about Assault Marines and I'm assuming you are playing standard SM army. And first off I didn't see it saying that Assault Marines could take Meltaguns anywhere. They can take plasma pistol and flamer and if they are in a transport they loose their jump packs! Also if they take a transport they must take a Rhino or Drop Pod, but they cannot take a Razorback at all. I do not regularly play Space Marines at all, but I would suggest keeping the jump packs and even if you do take a Razorback (which you can't) I wouldn't take the Lascannon/Plasma at this low amount of points. I would suggest something like this (If you have the models to do it):

5 man Tactical Squad (no upgrades) in a Razorback with TwinLinked Assault Cannons with an extra Storm Bolter 175
6 man Assault Squad, Sergeant has Lightning Claw in a Rhino 133
9 man Assault Squad, Sergeant has Lightning Claw + Melta Bombs 192

The Tactical Squad is to fill one of the two minimum Troops choices, their Razorback has very accurate tank or Squad killing weapon. Assault Cannons have Rending, so if you roll a 6 on Armor Penetration, which would normally only glance an AV12 vehicle, you automatically get an extra D3 meaning you penetrate an AV12 vehicle on a 6! Storm Bolter can be fired with the Assault Cannons if you're firing at infantry and you can still move 6" and fire both (Storm Bolter is strength 4 so it is a defensive weapon). If you get within 12" to weak troops have the troops get out and Rapid Fire for 10 quick bolter shots. Otherwise leave them inside!
6 Man Assault Squad is to get the other minimum Troops choice and don't forget, they can't assault if the Rhino has moved, but if you move 12" towards enemy troops your squad will be able to get out the next turn and THEN have the Rhino Tank Shock the squad and then if they don't flee the Assault Squad can charge them as well.
9 man Assault Squad is your very mobile melee unit with the Sergeant having Melta Bombs to blow up tanks (and the squad has Krak grenades so they automatically count as having strength 6 weapons when assaulting a vehicle, which should be able to at least glance anything you fight).

I hope you could read all this and I hope this helps! I tried to keep the list similar to what you had

Oh I might have misunderstood, are you playing together as a team or against each other?

OMG felixander, thanks a lot for these lines!

I have to clear up so much things... Let's go!

I'm playing Blood Angels, trying a mechanized list. The tourny is a pair-tournament, 500 points each; this is a new league who starts in january. My friend plays Imperial Guard, chimeras with veterans (this is our main idea).

This league's requirements are:

- No HQ required.
- Tanks armour can't be superior to 34. Example: Stormraven = 12+12+12 = 36!
- Can't play miniatures with 3 wounds or more. Example: Sanguinor / Mephiston

My main list is:

- Assault Squad with Power fist and meltagun + Razorback with Lascannon and plasmagun.
- Assault Squad with Power fist and meltagun + Razorback with Lascannon and plasmagun.

190*2 = 380

Now, here is the problem, 120 points remain. I don't have more miniatures/Vehicles, so I want to make myself a xmas gift! So no problem wiht $$ or €€

Oh! Well in that case I retract what I said before! How many Assault Squad models do you have? Is it just two squads of 5 members? I would first figure out what you want to do. Blood Angels are a very melee heavy army and also have the option of having an army of almost exclusively Dreadnaughts. Vanguard Veteran Squads seem like they would be a very good addition to your Jump Pack heavy army. They can come in from Deep Strike, AND charge the same turn they come in! (beware though as they do NOT have the Descent of Angels rule) I also would NOT take those Razorbacks if I were you as it limits their assaulting their ability as well as their movement speed, don't forget a Razorback can only move 12" a turn while a unit with Jump Packs can use their 12" move + run to ensure they are not seen or at least get good cover. I would not suggest using the Power Fist as you want to try and take out your enemies soon so you'll want to give the Sergeant a Power Weapon/Lightning Claws and Melta bombs. You get the same effect but you get more attacks, attack sooner, and still maintain anti-tank weaponry!

I would suggest getting another squad of Assault Marines and Vanguard Veteran Squad for now. Use on to augment the squads you have and the Vanguard Veteran Squad to boost up your flying melee power!

5 man Assault Squad: with Melta Gun + Sergeant with Infernus Pistol and Melta Bombs 130
9 man Assault Squad: with Plasma Gun + Sergeant with Lightning Claw and Infernus Pistol 205
5 man Vanguard Veteran Squad: Sergeant with Lightning Claw 165

The first Squad will act as your mobile Anti-Tank squad, it's very important to move them wisely as that if you face too many vehicles your only other defense is the other squad's Infernus pistol (hopefully your friend's Veterans have Meltaguns! If not make sure he does as that is the best way to run them).
The second squad is your anti-infantry squad. Once you get within charging range the Plasma gun with give you 2 S7/AP2 shots and a 3rd stronger shot from the Sergeant's pistol, which should kill anything it connects with in this tournament. Then you charge in to kill the survivors!
The third squad will be able to Deep Strike near an enemy squad and immediately charge them (just make sure to announce that you are using Heroic Intervention)! Just beware of scattering too far so make sure you're 4-5" away just to give you some space for accidents.

This gives you a heavy melee army which should mix very well with a Veteran/Chimera IG list and put you at exactly 500 points!

Don't forget though, you play the army the way you want to and what I have said is just an opinion, it is not something you must follow.

Sorry I was also confused.

Actually I wouldn't want to mix troops and tanks like just suggested. At the very least they will be working at different speeds and different parts of the battlefield

I guess you will have the chimeras protecting your razorbacks with their superior armour and with special weapons inside. Then all tanks roll forward 6'' and shoot anything in their way.
This is a good plan to roll with. So 120 pts that is hard armour, goes 6'' and shoots loads of weapons, also I want more ranged attack as the vets can not shoot that far. So I say a pred with autocannon and lascannons if you find 15 pts or TLautocannon dread.

Powerfists in a squad of 5 is not so hot as has been described. Powerweapon and powerweapon/meltabombs saves 15 pts for the pred.

I am not sure what game plan you have but you'll need to work with the IG.
