Hi, just won an auction for the old gothic ruins that were in the starter box for 3rd(??) edition. Now, given how low the second story is on 'em (you can't fit an ork boy beneath), I'm thinking of raising them a bit, by building up the foundation a bit using plasticard and green stuff.

Hence my question in the topic, how high should a story/floor be? 2", 3"?

I think either would be ok, but i would plump for 3' so you can fit some taller models in too.

A 3" gap from ground to bottom of the second story is good.
That provides enough space for 'most' models to fit underneath (use 4" if you want to try and squeeze a land raider underneath the second story) without them becoming a real PITA to get in and out and move them around..
Plus, 3" is the official height of each story when rolling for difficult terrain movement.

Life isn't fair. But wouldn't it be worse if Life were fair, and all of the really terrible things that happen to us were because we deserved them?

Lovely! 3" it is then. Thank you!

The rules assume a height of 3" between levels.

Basically, doubling the height of the wall piece under the floor will do this.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

Now you have to do this

The USS Orinoco was a Federation Danube-class runabout that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to Deep Space 9. It was outfitted with a sensor pod.

It is not meant to be a second floor but a first floor with a sous terrain below it.

I always shoot for 3" as well. Gives enough space for most models and looks pretty good, without hampering any unit's ability to travel and/or maintain coherency between floors.
