After discussing with one of my friend, he advised me that if I didn't wanted to have to buy a new codex and start all over again an army when 6th edition will come out, I should start with vanilla marines. His reasons were that C : SM already had a codex in the past 4th and current 5th edition, and that there was other armies more in need of a new codex than them, and so the current C : SM should be good for a while. But I still had questions before buying anything :

1- Compared to DA, BT, Chaos Daemons and CSM, how good are vanilla marines?
2- I've read about Marneus Calgar ability God of War, and I found it incredibly useful, but except for this, is he useful?
3-What special rules do the SM have that would give them an edge in battle?
4-Are there any useful units that have fearless?
5-Do Drop Pod more useful than rhino and Razorback for them?
6-Do their unit cost more, less or equal than the DA/ Daemons/ CSM ???

1)Daemons are too random,
BT gunline, DA deathwing, DA dualwing are on par with a good vanilla list like a Vulkan list.
A good CSM, ravenwing, BT assault list are about as good as a average vanilla list.
DA in power armour and a quiet CSM list are worse than vanilla
2)God of War only does morale checks, no other leadership tests, this is often misplayed. You already have combat tactics which is the really useful half of the skill. This isn't his strength.
He real strength is being awesomely killy and yet hard to kill. He is still overpriced back away.
3)The advantage of the codex is that it is flexible. In terms of skills you have one special skill beyond normal marines, choose from
fleet
stubborn
combat tactics - choose to fail a morale check - this is great
all meltas and flamers are twin linked - this is better
4) Chaplains make units fearless. Fearless is not a good skill in cc in general, where the chaplain wants to be. SO essentially a chaplain and assault termies is the only good fearless unit.
5)All transport options are amazing in their own way. The key is how your whole list blends together. Really one drop pod is a good suicide unit, and a whole army of drop pods is strange but effective thing. Then rhinos are dirt cheap and can be shot from. Razorbacks are gun platforms.
6)Daemons no idea. DA is definitely more expensive in terms of points. CSM have cheap marine squads to keep the cost down but the good stuff costs serious points.

They are likely redoing the marine codex next year.

The space marines are the most popular army in the game... they will probably be among the first 6th edition codex to be released.

Codex Blood Angels is much newer, and is not likely to be revised anytime soon... nor is space wolves. Both are better than space marines currently, and both are very good in the current game climate.

I'd bet money that the Codex:SM will be new by this time next year.

At the bottom, that is, below DeathWing, as MFletch stated.

I'll answer this as the rest of your post is sorta fishing for GW's Intellectual Property.

If you don't wanna spend a lot of cash, then GK paladins are the way to go. I don't have the exact point to $ ratio, but I saw a recent 1850 list that was 2 SRgunships, 10 pallies, and a libby and/or Draigo. My Dark Eldar models easily cost twice that at the same points.

You gotta get a codex and then shop GW's website. Go to a GW store and you'll get this kind of help ... or a LGS. Most have "store copies" available for perusal.

One box of termies(5) is 50ish, Sr are 60ish, libby and draigo each around 20ish.. not all that cheap espeacially since you cant make another list with those lol youd need to add more
