Subject: Hipster Heretic: The Winter Log! ---Cypher Rising---
Welcome to my yearly winter-log transferred from relicnews.com
About me:
Spoiler:
I started/restarted painting and modeling two years ago (after some 10-12 years of education travel and stuff), though I only have time/in the mood in the winter time. Last year I started logging at the Relicnews painting forum, which was great this season I like to move over here at Dakkadakka where theres more action
Here are some older stuff I did:
BA termie two years old.
Some kill team members for last years comp here on Dakkadakka. they got a close to first, 2th place.
Pre-DakkaDakka work on Cypher:
Spoiler:
First of last years model: Cypher.
I picked up work on him, though he is missing a sword and something on the belly, any sugestions. The Original Cypher has some skeleton there, I could try and do that, but I would have to take him apart again since his arms are in the way ;:(
He is quit big, like two times a normal space marine here is last years log on relicnews http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?257532-True-scale-conversion-log-Cypher-the-Fallen&daysprune=365
Then I have a Blood Angels sergeant and two other BA dudes on the way.
The fist and sword serg are gonna be painted in white armor but with red here and there, gonna create a backstory for him. I have some inspiration from the Space Crusade box/cover.
The two others are gonna be traditional BA's one is a serg, the other is a basic space marine with bolter, boltpistol and a knife. They are all (-cypher who is too big) meant to be for playing some Space Crusade if my mates are up for it (dont know anyone who paint or play though ;:()
Any feedback is very appreciated. I hope to start primin' the serg tomorrow... unless some one has a good idea or critical critic that i nead to change
Skumle Rafte

Ok Cypher lost a leg, Kinda expected since my drilling tool was packed away be cause I am renovating my apartment... So he was just greenstuffed together. Got him drilled now and ready, sword is coming together aswell, and I started the skeleton work on his torso.
unfortunately priming Cypher or the other BA dude will not be done another two weeks, waiting for an airbrush. I wanna try out some fading technic
So alot of time for fine-tuning, any suggestions? Ill post more pictures when there's more obvious progress

The other one. Well he is not a terminator, if it makes a difference. He is plain' ol' Space marine, I used terminator legs make him bigger I also made the torso bigger/wider. He is meant to be close to Truescale, but still playable.
Got plenty of time to change him, what don't you like?

Actually I took this picture yesterday morning. I already made the blue a lot better and also... made other stuff better Its my first time painting anything White so I'm trying different technics I get the feeling it will turn out great at the end, but right now it looks messy...
Automatically Appended Next Post: Unfortunately i hit the wall trying to model up the bonebody on Cyphers stomach. So I have no progress with him at the moment. Perhaps my green stuff is getting too old, its not sticky enough and I have to add too much yellow to get it soft.

I'm having a real hard time trying to sculpt the rips on the poor baby skeleton. Any suggestions are very welcome I also much appreciate comments on the skeleton hip.
I know it looks like I'm posting more pictures than actually doing progress... well at the moment I'm mostly doing Cypher with greenstuff, and he requires a lot of healing so it slows things down. though while healing I began retouching and finishing some older minis that I never got around to finish because other stuff came up.
Making the photo-collages helps me set goals for next steps.
Here is my mate Cypher:
1. Lately I modeled up the (baby) Skeleton on the front, I don't really know what to think about it. Some feedback would be nice, I think I can still re-do it.
The skeleton is gonna be missing a lot of parts, like they broke off over the years or so, One arm attached to Cypers breastplate, the other dangling down the side broken off at the elbow. The legs are both gonna be broken off, one attached to Cypers right leg the other dangling.... What do you think?
2. I'v tried to sculpt a sword for him, I'm not satisfied. Does anyone know of a sword I can buy that will fit the look? (its gonna be mostly hidden)
3. I actually modeled hair on him, It did look great, but I took it off before it hardened, kinda like the non-hair idea, What do you think. HAIR / NO HAIR?
When I did these guys one or two years ago I got them to the same stage the Ultramarine is now and I ran out of interest. Hoping to get them done before the same happens this time
Two more Fallen, this time Terminators. they are even older. Actually they are the first models I did after 10 years of not painting a mini.
I'm trying to get them to the paint level that I can do now. Bit of a challenge...
I made up a whole story about these guys... that for another post... or never. but the guy with the big head, I had the idea that he was infected by genestealer... something, it made him swell up and that he turned insane. The Apothecary (below) helps him out... cuz he's a good guy yaww.
... well he lost an arm, but he took some nid arm.. made last arm improved for killing...
Thanks, I looked it up, it looks cool. But its curved, I'm looking for something excalibur'ish I might have found something with the new Dark Angels Termie kits
