Rules:So if you are firing at a unit through more than 2" of area terrain you give them cover.Vehicles an Monstrous creatures are an exception and they have to be at least 50% in cover to claim a cover save.
*So my understanding is that if I am firing through(for example) 5" of terrain, if I can see more than50% of a vehicle he does not get a cover save.
Cheese:So it is a discussion at my club- the vehicle does not get a cover save BUT you give him a cover save because of the terrain.Bottom line-if you fire through 10" of terrain but you can perfectly see the vehicle does he roll a 4+ save?
Thanks a lot

1) No, you dont. Only if you are firing between two elements of the area terrain. The rule is that you fire through less than 2" you DONT give cover saves, you cannot simply reverse that rule, basic logical fallacy
Your next understanding about monstrous creatures / vehicles is correct; all that matters for them is that they are physically obscured
Your club is wrong. a) because of 1 above - you cannot exclude the middle that way b) nothing overrides the requirement for MCs to be 50% covered

I agree with all but #1. So If I am firing(to a infantry model) through a wood (let's say 5" of area terrain) but my shot does not go between 2 elements of terrain I don't give a cover save?
If thought it was known that if you are firing inside area terrain more than 2" you give him a cover anyway not just between gaps

Reread the actual rules then. P22, "Firing throug units or area terrain" and "firing out of area terrain"
the rule you are misquoting is that you DONT give cover if you shoot through 2" or less.
It is a BASIC logical fallacy for you to try to say the converse - that shooting through more than 2" gives cover. A implies B does NOT mean B implies A

Note that most people dont correctly play the shooting through area terrain rule, as quite frnakly a lot of area terrain is fairly poor.

Area Terrain gives cover if at least half of the enemy models are:
1. Within the area terrain.
2. Partially or fully obscured by the terrain.
3. Partially or fully obscured by the area between two elements within the terrain (e.g. two wall sections of a ruin, two trees, etc.).
If your firing unit is within the area terrain and is firing at a unit outside the terrain through less than 2" of it, then they don't get a cover save regardless of (2) or (3) above.
If your unit is firing at a vehicle, it doesn't get cover unless the armour facing is actually 50%+ obscured.
