Hi all

I have old OOP Zoats with big guns (not pistol like)
Can I use them as Hive Guards (using 40mm base)?

If your opponents are ok with it, yes

In tournaments, if the TO is ok with it

As long as you tell your opponent before hand, you are not using them as anything else, most people won't have a problem with proxys/counts-as.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I'd bet that most opponents won't care as long as you talk with them before hand.

So long as they are not being used for anything else as well, I doubt anyone would even mention it - at least in a bad way.

I think the general response would be, "Oh cool, Zoats."

Editing to add:
The Tyranids apparently ate them, so it works on a number of levels.

Anyone who objects to this probably sucks, so go for it imo. Check with the organizers of any tournaments you play, though, out of politeness.

Thank you all for your opinions

Do you think I'll be able to use Zoat with pistols in both hands as Hive Guard as well ?

Again, as long as you let your opponent know before hand that "all zoats are hive guard (regardless of load out)" I can almost guarantee they will be fine. As was stated earlier, if it's a tourney, you would have to talk to the TO.

My zoats ended up as Ssylth in my dark eldar - with the multiple arms and weapons they slotted in fine.

I can't see a scenario that a TO would disallow this assuming the zoat was only used to count as one thing... using them to count as hive guard and tyrant guard for example could confuse but just 'all zoats are hive guard' to me would be fine.
