So a friend bought me 3 Eldar Guardian Jetbikes (!!!) and I was REALLY pumped to get 'em set up... only to see that they have the large bases... I have my 2nd edition Jetbike (single) and it is identical except that they used the reasonable, smaller sized bases. Can I use the smaller size bases for most tournaments? Obviously TO has the ability to disagree, but I mean general consensus. I am not doing any basing or anything so if need be I can switch back, but it just looks really stupid having my Falcon and my tiny jetbike on the same size base...

either way I'm using the small bases for friendly games, no matter what the opponent says ;D

RAW, you must use the base that comes with the models. Changing the base size requires opponent permission, and AFAIK tourneys will require the base it came with.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

And if I fibbed and said the model was 2nd edition and came with the smaller base they'd never know D=

But still good to know, though it makes me sad

I have numerous bases across my jet bikes... the old hex one on the metal JB and harlie JB models. 2nd ed plastics with small rounds and more recent (though still old scuplts) on the large. My dark eldar reavers are on large (old models) and small (new models) respectivley.

What i am trying to say i guess is that the current size is large for eldar and small for dark eldar!

Yeah, jetbikes are one of those units where the normal basing rules are really not particularly enforcible, due to the number of times its changed over the years.

Most people won't much care which bases you use for them. If you're considering entering tournaments with them just run it past the TO before the event.

Insaniak has it.

I find that Jetbikes are more playable and tend to work better on bases big enough to actually fit the model without massive overlapping. While the big ones are pretty darn big, I do think they're more appropriate than the little ones.

Back in 4th, I re-based mine to oval cavalry/bike bases from Gale Force 9, and IMO those are the nicest I've seen. The new GW pill-shaped bike bases are pretty good too. Nowadays these are on shakier ground rules-wise, but they look great, and looks go a long way in terms of opponent receptiveness.
